I put this on every year and the past few years i have got a good response and had quite a few people show and have a great time. This year im hopin for a lot more, and have posted this on 5 message boards. I havent picked a date yet, but it will def be at Tri-state again. Have gone there everytime i set this up and the majority of people that go seem to enjoy it there. Mostly, im posting this early enough to get an idea of who would show up and who wouldnt. And to kinda have a place to talk about it and/or throw around ideas on when. I do know that this is a lot of fun for anybody that goes, and i always get PMs from people sayin i should put this on again, so here i am putting this together for the 3rd year in a row. Hope to see you there!

Thanks,
Dallas

No donuts in the gravel when we leave.
Hippies with Evos must have their A/C compressors in working order.
Don't shave your head the day before you stand in the sun for 8 hours.
Don't throw ice cubes... no matter how harmless it may seem.

I'd like to see if the Vette can beat 13.7. It feels quite a bit quicker. I'll go.

Wife works the weekend shift in the ICU helping kids that get too ballsy with their goPro cameras and all the street/grudge racers that come into the hospital late at night ;) On the plus side she doesn't work weekdays and gets paid extra and we have no daycare costs.

Tri-State Raceway has that day labeled "Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman, Trophy, High School, Junior Dragster". Whenever I attend events there it's usually labeled "Test & Tune" or "Test & Tune, Street Legal / Sport Compact". Is this date correct?

I'm just asking because some Thunderbird SC owners are trying to set up a date but they can only do April 22 or 29 if they want a spring event.

I was thinking the same thing, they only had a few "test and tune" dates. So i called the track manager, and he said as long the date doesnt have "special events" which are labeled in colors, there is always test and tune. So i picked a date with no colored lettering.

I know its a bit far for you guys however Eddyville has a Midnight deal on Friday nights. I went for test and tune last Friday and it was pretty dead until about 10pm then I swear the place tripled the amount of cars that were there. Now not all of them were quality. However there was quite the quantity.

I was at Eddyville last Friday. Track prep was complete shit, worse than CFR. I like how they raise their prices then dont prep the track. I mean seriously whats the point in running eighth mile if you cant get traction? It was pretty sketchy spinning the 60' on my bike! I doubt I'll go back.

05-23-2012, 12:10 AM
That is the problem with midnight madness. After the street cars start to run 90% of the runs, they are not laying down any good rubber. Take that along with a track that is majorly cooling, and you have a recipe for no traction. The traction was nice to start the night, but by the end of the night, I was spinning the slicks in second and top of third.

I am about having fun but whats the point in the track? I slip, So if i want to better my time I dont want a cross wind and have them shut down to 1/8 mile. If I want to have fun I go out to the highway. Track is for a Slip and a slip only. unless you have a auto and enter classes were the payout dont even cover your expences. LOL

This makes me laugh. I think with this statement you have become a true viper owner! Only i translate the words slightly different... To me i read well my viper is built but has no true purpose so there is no point to taking it to the track when i could be out on the highway with way more people to see me in my viper while i roll race neons.

Sorry haha i couldnt resist.

I'd only go to the track on good days also. Much easier to break a IRS manual car than a auto so I'd save my junk for the good days only. CFR had a hell of the tailwind last weekend, but it was on the warm side. Friday nights at CFR are decent, but the track prep is going to be lacking due to street tire cars driving through the water box.

c_mart_28
05-23-2012, 09:02 AM
I'm kinda the same way actually.

My best passes last summer were in the 10.5 range (during the shootout) and by just waiting until a good day in late fall I was able to drop more than two tenths off my personal best. I just don't want to break my car on a day where I won't even come close to my personal best.

It was nice talking to you friday Mike.
After the midnight madness started it was not much fun watching anymore. With out seeing what people run its all crap.
It could be because I did not know anyone there.

I did notice they raised the entry fee cost to $30 bucks. I remember when I use to race it was maybe $20 bucks. Granted this was 10 years ago.

Hearing the faster guys talk about breaking makes me want to pick up another stock car to race. I use to go every weekend with my bolt on car, I was the slowest in the group I went with however I was always having fun.
