What does that mean I build all my own stuff....
As far as the car goes this year so far I haven't done anything but peel off the drag radials and put on some BF Goodrich street tires on it I drove it to work in January one of those nice 50* days and noticed the drag radials were getting down to the cords As far as trying to make it quicker which I wanted an 8.00 pass last year so bad I could taste it but I'm done chasing that horse for a while until I can get a bigger compressor since I am maxed out on the 35r. Who is this jameson250s feller?

IDK what he and fifdy were referring to at all really. I cant remember if your turbo was still mitsu flange or T3. But sitting right behind me is a turbonetics billet 64mm that may be just what you need. Though if you spray off the line, you could go bigger yet.

Andy, Get a PTE 6266? I think they offer it in journal bearing if your on a buget but if you dont mind spending 1200-1400 then get it in BB. It will make 100+ hp more than that old school 35R and not spool to much later with the new CEA turbine wheel. Have Ryan get you a price, and make sure you have a .82 hotside on that T3.

SLVR7
02-08-2012, 02:53 PM
Why such a small hot side, .82 is going to choke it up top where he is trying to make big power. Spool isn't a concern or problem for him.

Jappbox
02-08-2012, 02:58 PM
I think .82 is the biggest T3 they make?? and nobody in the 4g63 world running a T3 uses anything bigger to hit the 800+whp mark with a 6766.

Im not sure what you have for internals Andy, but that would be the biggest I would go with Eagle Rods, If you have Manleys/crowers/oliver and want to go REALLY Fast

.85 is the biggest t3 option I have seen, but these aren't Rotaries man.

That 66 wheel is good stuff. 6266 is pretty close to what you have, the Turbonetics 6465 option is probably ideal. 6766 may work well too. The one here is the 6462 hpc.

Yea I forgot where I was reading, may have been turbonetics. But the smaller compressor covers were shown to be 90+% efficient in comparison to the sp etc covers.

well I have 71mm turbos in a small cover now ith 3" in and 2 out i think.

Andy just has a normal 35R so a 6265 would gain him 50+ hp an the new 6266 is another 30+ I think it would help him greatly, the 67mm is for hard core guys pushing alot of power it replaced all the 42R turbos out there and took lots of evos to high 8's

I know you guys love selling Turbonetics and Im not trying to say they are bad or anything but the majority of Records are broken with PTE turbos, infact 90% of the DSM/EvO/Supra/Honda Records are with PTE's new CEA wheels. its the only turbo company I would trade in my Comp's for running. Infact Jessica Bartons supra went from a Custom Turbonetics 76mm turbo to a off theshelf PTE 7686 Turbo and broke into the 8's Just my opinon PTE is more expensive and do have some issues from time to time but that could be because there is so many being produced.

You can get a 1.06 from tial and garrett. He still needs a larger to flow at higher p/r and rpm. Remember he is drag racing with a trans brake. He is spooled at the line and no shifting lag to recover from.

Jappbox
02-08-2012, 03:50 PM
but hes not reving to the moon. infact I think hes staying close to 9k a .82 is not hurting him on that small of motor.

Try logging back pressure and I bet your opinion changes.

Jappbox
02-08-2012, 03:57 PM
I know all about backpressure and loging it, why do you think mine are 1.32 housings. Im saying hes not reving 9500+ like other are with similer setups. Last I talked to Andy he might even have been under 9000 RPM because the high RPM's were riping the Trans up. The reason Andy's car moves out well is simple math, Good 60 foot with a nice power-Weight Ratio, hes not pushing over 750hp at the Crank though his setup and only uses nitrous to spool. and he has a open Downpipe to help pressure. Sure If he gets a 1.06 it will help back pressure some but it wont change the power level. and they seem very hard to find.

SLVR7
02-08-2012, 04:15 PM
The downpipe has nothing to do with the preturbo pressure. I can get you a pile of 1.06 snails, got 2 myself. On a street car I agree with you but not on a drag car. The 1.06 will ultimately make more power.

Jappbox
02-08-2012, 05:05 PM
You want your pre turbo back pressure to be close to 1:1 the pressure Pre turbo is needed. but you dont want it to high and I bet you its not that high Again lots of guys out there DRAG CARS running .82 hotside and are fine. and noone seems to be pushing the 1.06 with the 6766

(From 2009)

"As the title states guys the little 67mm T3 has just broken into a new HP barrier with 885whp @ 44psi!!! Its amazing how these new billet badboys are turning out.. The car is pulling over 800whp to 10k RPM.. The only turbos to do that in the past were HUGE Laggy T4 75mm Turbos.. This turbo has run @ 49psi for us in the past so i know it has 900+whp in it no problem.. All from a little single scroll .82 T3.. "

Precision does set a lot of records with their turbos. They make great power for their size. Their customer service is better staffed and they usually ship faster.

Our Turbonetics warranty claims % is lower, virtually non-existent . Turbonetics pricing is often lower too, especially on larger turbos. And their warranty covers everything, even user error (no air filter, sucking in rocks! etc).

I'll sell you either one. Garrett too. :)

On my best pass last summer 9.24 the pass my oil filter came loose at CFR.
At 6500 rpm bottom of 2nd gear my boost is 38 psi and at the top of 2nd gear shifting at 8995 rpm the boost falls off to 32 psi with a .82 AR housing I remember putting on the .82 housing and was like this should help!!! but didn't really notice anything for gains. Heres a copy of my log from that night.

My IAT's are waaaaaay high starting out at 68* end up at 160* at the end of the pass!

Compared to the rx7, your IAT's are LOW. Sounds like its time to go a little bigger, maybe even some cooling additives.

maybe because the rx7 needs a damn intercooler...speaking of refilling nitrous bottles, how long does that meth last you?

Lasts quite a while, 1 gallon of meth will last most people through 2 full gas tanks of spirited driving. As you probably know, pump comes on only at wot, like nitrous but simpler (no window switch, solenoids, purge, heater, bottle opener, arm switch, etc) .

methanol is about $3 a gallon from circle track suppliers. I go to oxford.

A lot of people including me run 50/50 meth to water so my mixture is actually only $1.50 per gallon. I'm pretty happy with it.

I still might add an intercooler, just depends how fast you are this year.

Theres a guy up here in manchester called Edgewood oil co. he sells methanol in bulk that's where I got it from when I was using a boost cooler on my old Eclipse Few years ago.
I was paying 1.80 / gallon I ran it strait and adjust my tune up or you can mix it with water what ever you decide is fine. When I ran out on strait methanol keep in mind it changed my afrs 1 point so if you run a target of 11.00 if you ran out it would go to 12.0 afrs that was with the big spray nozzle from snow performance. larger nozzles will be more dramatic of course

well when its progressive it comes on ALOT more often than if its just WOT, going up and down sugar bottom road there is alot of part throttle driving so full boost wasn't reached but i was still spraying an amount of meth... and i had a dual nozzle system
