ok so i guess its time to share about the new super secret build with after market thermostats.
tons of pictures to show.
car is being built to be able to compete in the SFWD/ true stree class if i get a chance to get to any events this year.

same car as the last build thread showed. same everything but drive train and suspension setup.
read for some pics?
i thought so

first off is the heart of the little beast. i drove 11 hours one way to pick this up in ohio/ virginia
b18c1 or GSR motor. paid 1k for it and it was a running long block. cam with carrillo rods (1000hp capable)
and wiesco pistons but the pistons are getting sold since im going higher compression. rods are over 1k brand new so i say i got a good deal on this motor

it drains straight back into the block
all the nasty shit that comes out of it when people pour them out is from condensation from the oil sitting in the can. and it is in your motor anyways. i ran it on my last motor with no issues at all. and it vents the block really well.

hell idk. it will be a while. i was hoping for end of may but i doubt thats happening.
still have some expensive stuff to buy. i have everything for the head.
block still needs sleeves and pistons. plus machine work
trans needs spool, 5th gear cuff, twin disk, dss axles, and gforce shifter/w linkage
and suspension with RLCA's
slicks for my rims.
turbo manifold and turbo
and maybe different fuel system
ignition system.
damper
booster delete
staging brake

and i think thats the list. hahaa

knew that quote was coming...
no one builds honda auto trannys. not enough people even want to so its not even tried. and honestly if they did i would never buy one. having a auto take the fun out of it. when its a stick you actually have to know how to drive IMO. i dont like just having to press the gas and nothing else.

JacobS
01-27-2012, 11:11 AM
at the power hes shooting for, it does give a lot more rear end stability on the top end. its not necessary, but it does help.

Im sorry man, I havent seen the need for one on my low 8 second rwd car yet so it just seems way too stereo typical, and I would think the additional downforce there would actual reduce traction to the front wheels.. I am not dissing on the rest of the car it is cool to see some fast cars that are a little different than the usual.

it may be different with a fwd car idk. gotta remember you have all the wait moving onto your drive tires. and the rear suspension that will be on the car will be stiff as shit so it will wanna bounce around im sure. this just stabalizes it a bit more.
what is your car trapping in the 1/4 if you dont mind me asking?

Its running on the limiter at 164, 133+ in the 1/8th. My car runs good times for the mph. Maybe it does help some but I would be very surprised if your fwd car would want to get outta shape on the big end. I guess I just like the factory look generally

im just going off of what others have said. on skinnies they say the rear end likes to hop around a bit. but my fastest trap is only 133mph. but this year should be in the 160's if all goes right.
its just a whole different world from a fwd to a rwd car going that fast. i could only imagine the feeling of launching a 8 sec rwd car. prolly poo my pants

i bought the harness from the guy i bought the motor from. it was a custom harness that was made by a buddy. i know you can get the connector with a diy kit for harnesses for hondas. the connector itself is $200
this is the link to where i think the harness came from but obv someone had to put in the many hours making it

check out mcmaster carr they might have something, amphenol brand is what we use at rockwell and they are PRICEY!! but might be able to call them up and see if theres a dealer around here. Actually maybe stop in at iowa radio on blairsferry and maybe they could point ya in the right direction as well. The one I priced out for my car through amphenol with the braiding was over 500 dollars for the firewall and mating connector, its not uncommon with military and aerospace for just 1 connection to get into thousands of dollars, pretty crazy

and this is my work bench i set up for this task

did some work tonight on the staging brake. need to have a line made at the local hydrolic shop since the fitting for the brake is npt and they will have to make a end with npt and the other end with flair fitting.

found out the rear trailing arm bushings are non existent. so they need done. which sucks cause the tool to do it cost more then the bushings themselves.

also got the dash all the way in except the glove box. probably going to wait till the car starts before thats in so i can get to the harness somewhat easy.
also the staging brake has to be moved. it will not work in the spot it is in. def would be blasting my elbow in it while shifting hard. going to have to make a bracket and set it next to the shifter on the pass side

This is the night we went to check and pulled up and I started freaking out. Not great pics cause it was dark but you can see how close it was. Under the deck of the house is all water. And in the summer there is a cliff the drops probably 10ft to the water so that tells you how high this small river is.

A little update. With no pictures.
Got new dss hubs on the way. So front end and be put back on. Was a big scare with the shop this week. Flooding has been happening and the river right behind the shop was wayyyy up. If the water would of rosé another 6inches it would of been in the shop. And te car has no spindles on it so moving it would be been tough but luckily the water started going back down but still could come back up if everything melts fast up in MN. But hubs should be here soon so te car is movable.

Also the motor has officially been sent out for sleeving to golden eagle.
And then from there it will be headed to rob at total performance racing (tpr) for the bottom end to be built.
84mm oringed
5 point main girdle and arp main studs
Custom 11:1 pistons
And the tpr special building specs :)
I went full out on the bottom end per robs advice to have a bullet prof bottom end.
It's costing a lot but if it holds together it will be worth it.
Motor will take about 5-6 weeks according to rob.
Also got a cuff and IC piping on the way to hopefully get that all done. Still need to order clamps next week hopefully.
Hope this update is better then nothin

All of them use rods except the k series motors. Those are cables.
This shifter assembly only has one rod instead of the normal two.

Also I plan on going with ID 2000cc injectors. Just sold my five o motorsports 2000cc's to help fund the id's.

FIC 2150cc
ID 2000cc
Gram 2200cc
They all start from the same Bosch EV14 injector and are modified to get the flow rates advertised. Also be aware some companies are not accurate in their rating. Do some double checking on the ACTUAL flow numbers of the injectors before purchasing.

from the video I wouldn't come to the conclusion that they would cause mis-fires unless you've read others having issues in the real world. Lots of injectors have a pencil stream pattern like the 80lb siemens dekas i ran and they work well and are very common.

also that guy said he ran 60psi base + 30psi of boost = 90psi. when put up against 30psi of boost the injectors will not flow what the machine was flowing @ 90psi. they will still flow what the machine tested @ 60psi since you have to subtract the boost pressure.

flow rate with 60psi fp with 0 vacuum = flow rate of 90psi fp with 30psi boost

Injectors can go over over 90psi as long as you don't go over 90psi base. just like you said. The bottom line is the injector does a way better job of atomization at 60psi and 90psi as compared to standard 42psi which I was told to run for base fuel pressure on the 4 cylinder. Also my misfire could have been related to not strong enough spark with stock coils even with .018 plug gap at 38psi its just something I wish we would have tried on that car...

Large un-atomized droplets = shitty performance if this wasnt the case people wouldn't be wasting there time trying to make the best atomized injector out there
If it were my car I wouldn't tune the thing any less than 60 psi base fuel pressure if you have enough pump.
We picked up a tenth just by going from 60psi base fuel pressure to 90 psi base with our 500lb billet atomizers duty cycle went down as well, just food for thought.

It does look tough. Block guard and girdle, should hold together great. What was the power goal?

Golden eagle sleeved block ftw!!!

Also gotta order some small stuff like a plug for the stock breather box and get a t stat and small stuff before the trans goes on and I put it in the car.

Its def getting powder coated just don't know if I wanna just go black or not. Would love that tail purple color tho but don't want to spend 80 bucks or more when I can get it done from a friend for 20. He just doesn't have access to a lot of colors.
