figured it was a good night to show everyone what ive started doing to the car for next year.
1995 civic coupe. previous setup made 475whp 325trq
ran a best time of 11.01@129mph
that motor consisted of stock sleeve d16 SOHC motor.
vitara pistons eagle rods
P&P head with springs and retainers. comp 59500 cam
golden eagle intake manifold
PTE 6262 turbo
you get the gist.
couple pics of the car from last year.

still got a lot to get before its done. and lots of money left to spend.
i plan on going to some events this next season with the car so it will be able to pass tech at every track and be legal to run 150+mph. so yes it will have a chute.
i plan on having it running high 140's and low 150's if all goes right. a big IF
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm244/johnx52601/12ee51bc.jpg
also got a drag wing coming will be this exact wing

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm244/johnx52601/4421c4a4.jpg
im sure most people will hate the wing but i love it and it serves a purpose. more stability at high speeds!
and the plates of course!

differences in this years setup will be different but better cam.
sleeved and fully forged bottom end with CP pistons most likely. 10:1 compression
the vitara bottom end was around 7.5:1 and cast pistons
b series transmission on the d series block. with 5th gear cuff and spool.
running same turbo setup with just more boost!
and then i have my long list of shit sitting here next to my computer which is A LOT of money worth of shit.
next thing on the list is suspension. since im still on stock struts with 195k and egay coil overs

boost numbers will probably be around 35 ish. but it might be less. might be more.
d2b is putting a b series trans on a d series block. b series trans is a hell of a lot stronger. but they do not match up and have different splines on the shaft. theres a company that has figured out how to make it work and makes a mount kit that allows to use the b series trans. but you have to get a custom clutch disk.
basicaly if i were to stick with a d series tranny id be shredding gears since they are not meant to hold near the power the car will be making. and i cant get a "good" set of gears like i can for the b series trans. less limitations basically
kinda works like how some guys put a for 9in rear end in there trans am. a lot stronger.

im not making any wagers as the car is in peices right now. thats what i plan on it running but what it actually runs remains to be seen. fastest mph last year was 133mph. so with 100-175whp more we will see what it gets. also with suspension changes and working on making the car more aero with a new front end with no extra holes in the bumper and cutting a little weight.
theres just to many variables to be able to make a wager ryan haha.

not that good IMO. i was having problems with rolling out when launching. been studying some videos of the out law guys on in car cams and pretty sure i figured out the problem. def riding the clutch to much. but i was also on stock axles to i was trying to take it easy on them.

Dss 3.9's supposed to hold 600whp. Take the same hubs and 5.9's take a bigger hub cause the spindles are bigger and those are supposed hold over 1000whp.
But they aren't cheap

just curious, i've been shopping for some axles for my ford 8.8 rear swap. there is plenty of forged 28 spline stock diameter axles out there from moser, strange, superior, etc. But even forged they have their limits still. fortunately you can step up to larger diameter axles 31 or 33 spline, 35 spline easily by just changing out the rear diff or spool to fit the axles.
http://image.carcraft.com/f/9288966+w750+st0/116_0705_11_z+ford_8.8_rear_end+spline_comparison. jpg
wasn't sure if its possible for fwd trannys can be changed to hold bigger shafts going into the tranny
boostedsohc
12-15-2011, 05:36 PM
niehter the 3.9 or 5.9 change the spline in the tranny. there is a lever higher that requires a different diff/spool but thats WAY to much money. i wanna say 2500 or something.
the 3.9 is a stock replacement tho but obv way stronger. il probably end up getting the 3.9's since there a bit cheaper and and hold 600. unless i find a good deal on some 5.9's with hubs

I said almost, but that is the first platform I have heard of that the dss axles don't hold up well to. Did the cobra guys find a better option? When the rx-7 guys swap in the cobra diff most guys use stock rx-7 axles, but we'll never make the torque you guys can.

Here is a couple quotes for the Ronin/frijolee kit which is made for putting IRS cobra diff's in the fc rx7
The weak links in the base Ronin kit are the stock mazda outer CVs. If wheel hop is not kept under control the outer CVs will get destroyed.
It is only natural that as the driveline components are upgraded, the weak links become more salient. It is good to see that the outer CVs are readily available new. They are reasonably priced and relatively easy to replace.
Ronin should get with the DSS and have them make a Level 2 axle package that would include the bar, outer CV and hub.
Andrew
Yes, we remove the first three links in the chain, generally as you go up in HP with the stock rear end failures tend to go 1) stub axles (as demonstrated above) 2) axle bars 3) ring and pinion, 4) outer cvs.
We'll likely get to a level 2 kit eventually but we want to make sure this is well sorted first.
