It never fails that eventually when pushing the envelope things get jacked. Lets see your personal best carnage photos. I haven't managed to blow anything up in the last 7 or so years but I usually keep a momento to remind me not to do the same thing twice. Heres some photos of a forged piston I melted in 04', 3 out of 4 looked like this. Story goes that I picked up some race gas and was out doing some self tuning and pushed timing/boost a little to far, I am sure things would have been fine but my exhaust manifold picked up a crack the size of the grand canyon and things went bad in a hurry. It was a sad sad day, definitely a good lesson for the then 19 year old me.

About all I've ever done on my own vehicles is spin bearings... lots and lots of bearings.

I don't have pics, but I blew up a built LSD in the Regal a few years ago. Blew a pretty decent sized hole in the tranny. That was fun.

never actually had any massive failure *knock on wood*
Headgasket blew on my laser and that was it.

Blown in 4 spots, was shooting coolant out the back of the motor

Now lets talk carnage!! My buddy with the red civic a few of you guys saw running at CF one night, best time was 11.6@118mph back in the 300-325whp range. Then in march he rebuilt it and had it tuned at MAP and put down 415whp. Two days later a valve decided to let go. Stem went through the head and into the turbo destroying everything in its path. Spark plug got smashed to death too. Parts of valve went into lower end too.

He parted it out and now has an integra he's building over winter.

wow 86svo9l, did the motor stall or lockup or stay running?

It stayed running. I actually drove it the 5 miles home, I knew that it was all f'd and was more concerned with getting it home, I kind of regretted driving it home after popping the hood and seeing that it had blown oil out the dipstick tube and sprayed the whole bay with oil. I had a spare engine that I was going to build up hanging out in the garage with 40k original miles. I ended up just dropping it in to get the car going again. One day I will get around to doing a 2.3 build...

When I pitched my lucky #7 piston from the vette it looked good on top, but slivers of aluminum between the top ring and oil control ring just fell out of it once removed. It had mega blowby, but I did drive it home from Marshalltown (45 min or so) AFTER running the car two more times at the gokart track. Car almost felt normal. Thats whats nice with big engines as the other cylinders can pick up the slack. Never trust another mans tune :)

Never trust another mans tune :)

Wise words that everyone should keep in mind if they buy a modded car.

I've never owned anything that made enough power to blow anything to bits, I fail.
