Me and a friend came across this stuff called Plasti-Dip. This crap is AMAZING! Its a spray on rubber type, vinyl type coating. You can spray it on anything.... so i did.
I painted my stock WRX with it to see what they look like flat black, if i didnt like it then i would peal it off. Turned out amazing and started a Plasti Dip craze lol.

I plasti-sprayed my wheels, emblems, headlight housing, abs cover, tie-rods, battery top, hitch pin. That took two cans.

Half of my 1.8L dd eclipse is plastidip haha.
it has MASSIVE clearcoat issues all over the paint, mainly on the roof/trunk.
So since the higher model 1g's come with two tone, with black tops I figured I'd just plastidip the top black. I also tried to make it look decent and plastidipped the trunk.
I also plastidipped the tray below the wipers since it had a rusty-tinge to the whole thing and looked gross. My buddy plastidipped my hubcaps too which I objected to and peeled off after a few days.
Also plastidipped the blue bumper I got from Brent since I don't care about the car enough to go through the work of painting it properly:

Still looks like ass but looks a lot better.
It's easy as hell to use and cheap.
I hate people that spray their entire car with it.
I've washed the car multiple times and its been through storms and all.
I've chipped some off here and there, such as leaning against the sail panel and scraping a bit off once, dropped a screw driver on front bumper and chipped some off. All you do is spray some back on and it looks just as it did before. Easy peasy.

I may spray the whole lower section of the truck just for winter protection. Its not a permanent solution. But its a really good layer of protection.

Did it a few days ago. Iowa winter will be the test. From what they say on the bottle it will not fade, chip, crack, or peel....
How's it going to hold up in a car wash?
Not sure, I will go through a touch less car wash tonight and find out.

The strength seems to come from the edges wrapping around something. Once it loses an edge it loses its strength. Lots of videos on youtube.

Pretty much this right here, where I taped off along the quarter on my car when I sprayed the trunk, I've had to touch it up a few times because of the edge not being wrapped around anything. It still has held up great though

There are people who have painted their whole car with this stuff.
Personally I don't like the flat black look, although my bumper/roof/trunk is flat black on the eclipse so I can't say much.
However I suppose sometimes its fine if your paint is absolute shit and you can't afford to do anything else to it.
I got the idea from the original thread on dsmtuners about it.
Here's a couple cars from there painted with it:

didn't like the shiny ebony finish so i gave this stuff a try on my 30_06 stock. I love the way it looks and feels, cant wait to get the rest of my goodies put on it. Step dad acted like i painted over the 16th chapel or something. Just a few hundred dollar toy in my book so i decided to make it my own, as i always do. :)
surprised at the low odor. I actually painted it in my bathroom so i didnt have to heat up the garage. I left the fan on and you cant smell the stuff at all outside of the bathroom and not even too bad in the bathroom.
