Honda RC149

The crankshaft has a special configuration: the three cylinder part has the crank pins at 120 degrees, the two cylinder part has the crank pins, in the usual Honda fashion, at 180 degrees. Both crankshaft are coupled together at the position of the camshaft drive.

150cc 5 cylinder 8spd transmission

38 bhp at 20,500 rpm

the RC116 makes peak hp at 21,500 rpm

This is the cizeta, yes it does look like the Lamborghini Diablo that is because he designed it and was fired so he decided to make a better car. (Or something like that)

It has a transversely mounted V16.

Next, Commer TS3.
air-cooled, twin-crankshaft, 4.0-liter flat-twin driving the rear wheels. One crank lived above the other, and each piston had three connecting rods—two light outer ones and a heavier one in the center. The light rods went to one crank, the heavy rods to the other, and the two shafts counterrotated. The result was 10.5 hp at 1250 rpm. Crazy.

Love that build. Was just hunting for the Sherman ww2 tank engine in a mustang thread. That motors impressive since its a 1940's DOHC 4 valve per cylinder motor. Kinda high tech.

Not an engine, but still very unusual and unlikely. A little box of crystals thats suppose to realign the molecules in fuel to perform optimally.

I just watched that on Jalopnik today. That is badass. Its amazing what these guys are capable of. I never really knew that this was going on until a few years ago while messing around on youtube. I'm sure it'd be a neat engineering exersize to design your own engine and all. It'd be cool if someone made a DOHC engine.

^ Thats a cool touring bike. 160hp, 120 torque, 500lbs without saddle bags. Its interesting to read, bikes are typically known for very advanced technology and this one is back to the keep it simple mind set and it works. Id really like to hear it Rev to the 7800rpm red line.

.Honda's NR (New Racing) V-four motorcycle engine series started in 1979 with the 500cc NR500 Grand Prix racer that used oval pistons.[1] This was followed during the 1980s by a 750cc endurance racer version known as the NR750. The oval piston concept allowed for eight valves per cylinder which generated more power due to the increased air/fuel mixture throughput and compression. In 1992 Honda produced around 300 street versions of a 750cc model, the NR (often mistakenly referred to as the NR750), with a 90-degree V angle. Whereas the NR500 had used an oval piston with straight sides, the road going NR750 used an elliptical piston with curved long sides. The bike became the most expensive production bike at the time when it was selling for $50,000 and with the rarity, nowadays they rarely change hands.

That one is strange, seems like it might as well have 8 pistons, one for each rod. But I think I read it was in a class that it had to have 4 or something. Which is actually a hilarious loop hole they found. Such a rare bike too.
