Though the Ariel Atom is now being produced with an optional V8, that waiting list is too long. Here is k20 powered 6262 boosted variant.

Built by Real Street Performance and designed specifically to house their RSP Turbo System, this Atom features a Precision 6262 CEA ball bearing turbocharger, custom RSP manifold, downpipe and intercooler/piping, custom JE billet FSR pistons, Carrillo Pro H-Beam connecting rods with Carr bolts, a complete Ferrea valvetrain and Injector Dynamics ID1000 fuel injectors. Engine management is handled by a MoTeC M800 ECU system and SDL3 digital dashboard. Additionally, a modified gearing and tire package helps effectively transfer power to pavement.

Weighing in at a scant 1,375lbs (1,550lbs including driver and fuel), Hodge’s RSP Atom currently makes approximately 600 horsepower at 20psi on 93-octane pump gas which makes it the fastest Ariel Atom in the world!

Primarily used for fun, traction control components have been ordered and the team is currently discussing reworking the fuel system in hopes to turn up the boost on race fuel or ethanol in the near future as it’s currently close to maxing out capacity – they hope to make 750-800 horsepower and we’re confident that they will hit their goal!

That cant be fast its got a honda motor..lol

It's fast, but ass backwards power delivery for a car thats built for handling.

Didn't know you could put a V8 in these now. I've lusted after one since the first time I saw one. Too bad I'm poor...

Is it possible? I have a boner from something...(ugh, I'm feeling dirty saying this) Honda powered?

600 horsepower at 20psi seems like a stretch for a 2.0. maybe engine horsepower but not whp. Would be great fun ...... I do see/hear some lag and lack of torque that i'd like to fix with a bigger motor

That's my dream vehicle...however I would like to see the v8 powered version of the vehicle, could be fun.

Ryan, I'm sure the numbers are right, but it's very high rpm honda powa.

The v8 variant is a custom block that uses hyabusa heads... so basically to busa engines put together. I think it makes like 550hp and is an NA 4L v8. Thats pretty nuts.

EDIT: Haha I pretty much repeated what that top gear/clarkson dvd says. I think thats where I got it from originally too. So sick though

Small displacement high revving v8 is awesome. I read the driver was easing into the throttle in the videos to avoid tire spin. He claims it spools instantly.

I believe it can make 600whp, just doing it @20psi seems too low, maybe 30psi

3L not 4. He says it at 2:55

Look up some numbers being made by boosted K20 hondas. They make good power at relatively low pressures because the head design is so good. My guess is it is making like 58-9x's and they just say 600whp.

Does the k20 flow better than the evo?

not saying it can't do 600whp@20psi because i don't know enough about that motor but just seems abnormal

I did find this one on youtube
535whp @ 25.5psi an they had a velocity stack on there

It looks like a large turbo on the atom also whould should help make the larger peaky number than a midsize turbo. I think some of the new Honda heads would smoke the evo stuff. I don't have flow numbers, etc though.

I've seen a boosted k20 hit 500whp at 14 psi, but that was with e85. You have to remember they have 11:1 compression stock. I'm surprised they are running 20 psi on 93 pump gas. Bad ass little car for sure.

That video is prolly a mostly stock K20..... Plus it all depends on what K20 block they used, head work, cams, comp ratio, ect ect.....

TbTalon94

When it comes to head design Honda is leaps and bounds beyond Mitsu stuff. That is why they don't have to run 45psi to make good power.

^ holy shit, sum1 gave props to honda!!! lol. no i must agree on that. Actually, it was the integra GSR that made the most power per/liter EVER back in 94. 185hp out of a 1.8L N/A..... Now, the honda F20C is currently 3rd on the list, for N/A, at 123hp per/liter.

no doubt honda is good at making small displacement engines efficient...hell look at their work with F1, motocross technology, and even generators.......but when it comes to drag racing...they are a BIG quief...

civicex_1134
10-16-2011, 04:44 PM
Ive said it a million times.... "You dont build a honda to go fast or make money, you build a honda cuz its what u like, its your hobby...." So yes i would Def agree with you on the boosted aspect of hondas....

10-16-2011, 04:46 PM
but dont you boost/build a car in order to go fast? kind of a contradiction there brah..

civicex_1134
10-16-2011, 04:50 PM
I personally am not boosting my honda to "go fast", its bein boosted cuz i know they can be a fun car to drive on boost...... If i wanted to "go fast", it wouldnt be in a honda

10-16-2011, 04:55 PM
What happens when you boost it that makes it fun to drive but does not involve going fast?

civicex_1134
10-16-2011, 05:00 PM
i guess some peoples definition of "fast" is different...... honestly, when my cars done it might run low 13s. So "fun" to me is being able to drive a 13sec car to and from work everyday... "fast" to me means anywhere from 10.50s to 8.50s in a car u can drive on the street everyonce and awhile, or any car for that matter
