View Full Version : Need new mufflers...

Some of the flaps inside of the right muffler broke and my exhaust is really annoying, that little piece fluttering in there with the engine rpm and rattling, cant stand it. So I think its time to order new mufflers...
I've got dual exhaust offset 2.5" single in & 2.5" single out on the mufflers.
Anyone have suggestions on what sounds and performs decent?
My 3 brands I'm looking at are Borla, Magnaflow, and possibly flowmaster.
I kind of like the sound of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uAJqkpAyF1U

I just had to replace my JBA mufflers with something different also. What started out as a minor exhaust rattle ended with the welds at my ps muffler breaking and me dragging it down the interstate.
I replaced mine with straight-through 3" Magnaflows. Very deep and controlled at idle but wakes up real quick at WOT. Actually significantly quieter for the everyday driving circumstances as my old JBA's which is kind of a surprise seeing that my JBA's were a chambered muffler and these Magnaflows are not. All in all though, switching to these new mufflers is something I wish I'd done earlier now in hindsite.

I wonder if two of these would suffice: http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/shopexd.asp?zone=main&id=9267

I've had Magnaflow on my old 383 and now have an 80 series Flowmaster on my 355. The FM is definitely louder almost to the point of annoying, if there is such a thing. Just depends on if you want a chambered sound, or the sound of a glasspack. I like my FM better.

I'm a fan of borla XR1's myself. Mine took a beating too and never had a rattle or anything, although there isn't as much to come loose inside a tube. Always had a great tone to them IMO. They also make a oval style xr1 instead of tube. Magnaflows are pretty good sounding too though, can't go wrong either way.

Here's a little snippet. You can hear the idle at the end of the video.

Alright give me a couple days to see what I wanna do. Gotta mull it over and check my stuff.
So you're saying $153 + shipping for 2 mufflers? Or $153 per muffler including shipping making the total over $306?
If its truly $153 for both mufflers and shipped, I'll probably jump on it.
