the year is 2001, I had the black talon. first car I ever messed with but kindof started reading up and getting into it with friends in about 1999. 2nd picture is at the dsm shootout in ohio. i had more hair and less fat. the other guy on the left is Greg, he still has that blue 92 awd talon with only like 45k miles on it.

there is the old school proof. now if you didn't even have your drivers license back in 2001 then I automatically win all online arguments.

Got my license in 2000..Messed around with car audio for about 2 years.

Didn't have a car worthy of the track until 2005 though.

My FC running 10 lbs through a turbo that was eating itself alive:
T04e, Haltech E6x, street ported motor
8.07@92 mph, 2.01 60' on 15 year old 225 whatever came stock on a '91 GT mustang.

http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb90/c_mart_28/Car%20Stuff/engine-1.jpg

Had that motor out of the car literally probably 12 times. Proudly had either a clutch or tial 38mm wg (can't remember which for sure..) purchased from Import Evolution.

I always wanted one of those, the fact they dont come with a 5 speed turned me off from buying one a few years ago. Still have always wondered how well they run.

I like those a lot, its a shame they aren't as quick as the old sho's or very moddable.
Not to mention they had the camshaft issues.

I still wouldnt mind having one if it had the cam gears welded.

They're actually pretty reliable outside of the cam gear issue.
Because we all know I can't stay off craigslist:
http://peoria.craigslist.org/cto/2623089017.html

That one looks pretty nice.
I'd rock one if you could do much with them. Its insane how small they are, only a 3.4L V8.
They can sound pretty mean too

Anyway for this thread, obviously I don't live near the rest of you.. I'm also younger than most of you, I didn't get my license until 2006. However I was pretty much always bumming around in my first car I got for $300.

Only the gen 3 SHO was V8. It was decently quick but my 91 SHO was sooooooo much faster. Mine didn't have welded cams but id love to have another SHO again. Idk if its just me being an idiot or what but I just love those cars.

I have been looking at that 89 XR7 on CL lately but I just cabt justify it. I do want a new cheap project though.

those intake manifolds are sick. whats the cubic inches of those?

85XR7Project

Roughly 207 cubic inches? Only about 3.4 liters worth other V8 power.

Yeah the v6 sho's are quicker, especially the 5 speeds.

The v6 sho's are fun little cars, I'd like one but for the price I see decent ones at I'd just get a GTP or something with more aftermarket. Although stock for stock a sho and a gtp run close.

Yeah the v6 sho's are quicker, especially the 5 speeds.
in reference to the v8 sho's, the v6 sho's generally perform better.

Gen 1's were manual only and were the best looking. The only reason the V6's are so much faster is the variable intake. The original SHO V8 had it too but the bean counters killed it. Honestly after owning both a GTP and multiple SHO's I'd rather buy another Gen 1 MTX. GTP's shit trannys and frag pistons when you start playing with them. Plus when you tell people you drive a Taurus SHO you get one of those "ooh those are badass" comments. Stock for stock a manual SHO will walk a GTP imo.

Never been to the track with it, never will, it's a cruiser. 27,000 original miles. Crappy cell phone pics of it before I moved to Texas(O'Reilly's battery FTW!! LOL) after new wheels, coil-overs, 94-04 Cobra brakes front and rear, freshened up engine compartment.
