View Full Version : So who knows a lot about Termi Cobras?

I had a super secret race car project going, but the secret is out.
I bought a 04 Cobra a while back with a little bit of damage.
I'm hoping it will get finished this coming weekend and I'll have it out.

I bought it at an auction online in Pennsylvania. I thought it had a shiny blower and a cold air intake.
My buddy James found the car on youtube somehow... it made 525whp in 07. (Youtube guy owned it until 09)

Anyways, last night the guy that had it from 09 until he wrecked it, finally got ahold of me on facebook.
As it turns out, he dropped a brand new Aluminator (ford racing crate motor... all aluminum) in it about 5k miles before he wrecked it. Made 540whp on 19psi. Said it cost $8k for the motor.

So I have this car sitting here that I know nothing about. There are a couple strange things in the engine bay that I don't know what they are or what they did. (random "oil separator" not hooked up to anything by the brake booster). It had some gauges that were stolen. (looks like the wideband was hooked up after the CATS for some reason.)

I was going to get it tuned, dyno'd, and maybe get nitrous hooked up to it. But it looks like the guy just had it tuned 5k miles before he got rid of it.

Where is a good tuner and dyno? Would they do a nitrous install? (I'd do it myself depending on price. )
I'd just like the whole car checked out by somebody who knows whats up.

Here's a video from 09 when the guy sold it. Mod list is in the video description.

What do you guys think?

The only thing I've done performance-wise is electronic cutouts, new/bigger front mount heat exchanger, and some 305/35 Nitto NT05Rs.

Cool. What kinda damage?

The aluminator is not a huge upgrade over stock but the ~100 lbs off the nose is a nice change.

Get that blower ported and run a 100 shot and you'll have a solid ten-second car easy. I'd imagine the ease that you'll make power will make you really look back upon the old regal build with confusion.. :)

Enjoy the car and post some pics!

haha look back with confusion. Hopefully the new car comes together, I assume it runs?

Good call. Also, don't do any roll races to the top of 4th and into 5th gear. Many a burnt up #8 pistons that even the head cooling mod couldn't help.

I've been told about this. I'll have to see what it looks like and check it out. I'm assuming its been done already.
Also been told not to beat on it in 5th because of that issue.

It runs and seems to be mechanically ok. It looks like it went into a ditch hard. Broke a shock and bent the other. Needs a dent in the quarter fixed and painted. Everything else is done.

It has a ?Steigmeire? Ported Blower. Stage 4 or 5 I think. I didn't realize how much of an upgrade it was to port the blower on these. It didn't seem to do much for the M90 on the W-bodys.

I miss my Regal though. It sure was a cluster-fuck, but it was unique! It would have been pretty quick had it survived another couple weeks and got tuned on higher boost. On 13psi it beat ProbeGT from a roll spinning pretty bad. (During the time when his car ran good enough to beat DomesticDisturbance from a roll.) The T70 could push a lot of boost too.

I'll update when she's finished. If nothing else, I'll take it out to Black Widow for a few dyno pulls.

Lol, when I read what you posted first I thought you said on 13psi you beat A probe GT from a roll :)

That Steggy ported blower will work well for you. You should get a complete list of whats been done to it posted up. Be good to know if the input shaft has been changed, whats been done to the fuel system, who tuned it, etc.. Not a whole lot of weak points on the Cobra to worry about until you get to the track with sticky tires but there are a few items that are kinda the basics that every Cobra should've come from the factory with.

Mod list from the Video:
(I'll have to check with the other owner and see what else he did.)

The car has ____A LOT____ of extras that were all on the car when I purchaed it from the prior owner. He invested nearly $17K worth of extras into the vehicle and truely spared no expense. Everything was well documented and professionally installed. I received a large binder with all the paperwork and receipts for the work performed from the original owner and I'll pass it onto the lucky new owner. If you're looking for an ULTRA fast boosted cobra with everything installed and maintained professionally, look NO further.

I have never raced or had it dynoed. However the prior owner who was a vendor at Mile High Performance in Colorado had the car dynoed several times. The last dyno a few yrs ago with the current mods put down about 525 RWHP. This was on a conservative daily driver tune. I have only used the car for daily driving purposes so never attempted to max out the power, however if interested there is certainly more available with a more aggressive tune.

Lots of money invested in the car. Was all of that electronics still in it when you bought it?

Pullied upper and lower with Metco 10rib pulley setup 3.25 upper &10lb lower w/correct Alt pulley and all idlers.

^^ 10 rib? Cool setup if it is, but seems more likely that its an 8 rib setup.

Batwood

Yeah, its definitely a 10 rib. Lol. And I thought 8 rib on the Regal was cool.

All of the electronics were gone when I got it. Subs, amp, deck, gauges... etc. All gone. They left the wiring though.
All the speakers are ran directly to the amp, so nothing is on the factory loom. So I'm pretty sure nothing will work when I get a deck. Probably 300' of wire strewn throughout the car.

It was put in a ditch and they totaled it out because of that?

Can't wait to see what you do with it Brian.

Thats weird.

I guess admiring them in a parking lot but not wanting to get caught looking so you gaze through your mirrors makes sense..

Its ok. You're not alone.

Mile High Performance in CO had it in 07.
The guy in the video had it in New York. He sold it in 09 to a kid in PA, who drove it in a ditch in '11.

The car has been around... lol.

My dad is going to fix the dent and paint the car not this, but next weekend, apparently.

He's going to fix my car when I get the motor rebuilt and put it back in HIS car. (1967 Lesabre).
Come on Sperry's!
