wtb: built 8.8 from 86-93 mustang with 5 lug and 31 spline or stronger. I need the complete rear. Looking for a 3.27 gear or 3.55

86-93 was 28 spline, you'd have to go with a newer 8.8 if you want that. 5 lug can be converted to relatively easy.

94 would be 4 lug, probably a 93 cobra.

94 and up is 5 lug and longer
Because of the abs sensor ring correct? If i remeber right from reading the housings are all the same length.

Depends on where you measure; the housings are the same but the axles and bracketry are different due to disk brakes

I know the one I got is a 4lug with abs sensor rings and disc brakes I was told was out of 94 cobra but thats just what I was told. I have not opened it up to see how many splines. I see no tag or anything to idenify it?

Should be a metal tag held on by one of the diff cover bolts. If its not there it may be a mix of parts. It could also be a TC or Lincoln axle. IIRC a couple years of TCs came w/ 4 lug and discs but I have no idea as to ABS.

yea I'm looking for aftermarket 31 spline axles and with an aftermarket 31 spline limited slip diff. someone who built up their rear and abandoned their project or upgraded or part out, etc . Not sure how common it is that I'll find everything i'm looking for used. i'll try to buy everything at once if possible , if not I may source the individual parts. winter project, no hurry.
sleeping, the 94 on up stuff wasn't listed in the list of rears on Grannys website so I assume its not the ideal rear for this conversion. perhaps the wrong length or pinion offset
Looking for stock width 59.5 axle flange to axle flange but narrower might work .
if anyone is interested here is the do it yourself kit

Well I know it came out of a fox body and the only difference according to grannies website is the abs sensor rings. Which would only have to swap axles to achive the correct lenghth. I was originaly going to use it for my swap but now im linking I'll just go irs 8.8. Im going to look it over tonight see if I can find a tag or open it up see what its got inside.

...came std w/tracloc clutch style diff

...V8's came with 2.73 or 3.08 ratios

...came std w/tracloc clutch style diff

87-88 turbo coupes had 4 lug with rear discs, it always pissed me off that my XR7 had the crappy ass 7.5 rear and the same car with a Ford badge got an 8.8.
