lol, its got a lil rasp to it. Compared to all the other hondas with cat-back, it sounds pretty good. its got a cat, 18in resonator, and a 12in resonator..... was going for a buddy club spec II look without the price, lol.

Honestly is there such a thing as good sounding Honda exhaust? I haven't heard it yet if there is. I always end up shaking my head when I hear one.

stock, they way God intended.

Too many Honda enthusiasts get caught up in deleting resonators and running straight pipes to try to gain a few HP while throwing CELs and getting crazy loud. I think if they approach their modding knowing its a Honda and not a Mustang it helps avoid the rasp lol.

truer words have never been spoken

the car definitely could have been equipped with awd but honda in their infinite wisdom like to keep such features for the acura tl. a shame because the crosstour monstrosity is the only current honda car with available awd (i've heard rumors of the 9th gens having awd but the leaked spec sheets make no mention). i've still completed chassis tightening and nearly all of the model-available performance mods to have as much fun as the car allows (and the process itself is the fun of course) but in the end it certainly is what it is.

If he cared about the car he wouldn't have been running around with a 140* thermostat and no tune for the last several months. Car probably has not seen closed loop operation since the change. Has to be hurting his fuel mileage a bit.

Still doesn't change the fact its not running right with the 140. Just think how much better it would run when the computer isn't in open loop all the time. If your not running an all out high hp drag car what is the point. Put a 180 back in until you actually do something with the car.

So anyway... I need some help. Ok, so every morning im having to pull my coolant reservoir and dump it back into the radiator. And when i pull the rad cap in the morning it still has pressure behind it. So i dump it back in and put everything back as it should be. Ive replaced the radiator cap 4 times and the last 2 times its been with a OEM honda rad cap. Also the coolant has some carbon in it, not a lot tho, just some. It doesnt overheat and stays at operating temp as it should. Im thinking head gasket but im not sure. Any suggetions? also, any other questions you guy have about it, please ask. Thanks in advance.

Definitely sounds like a HG or cracked head issue. Hopefully just the HG. Have you had your oil changed since this started? A lot of times you will get a milky residue inside of the valve cover and coated all over everything as the coolant gets into the oil giving a nice indicator.

Well I guess there is a lesson to be learned. I am not sure that it was the cause or if it accelerated a pre-existing issue, but maybe now that stock t-stat can go back in with the new engine. I am sure it did not help the head gasket or the block/head running around as a DD and going for long trips without being up to temp, and running what I am sure to be rich all the time from constant open loop operation. Not sure if you know this but the O2s do not operate in open loop...

Good luck on the next engine. I am not saying a 140* thermostat is not going to show gains, but it has no reason to be on a DD car.

My god! your still on that! I can tell you right now that it gets to operating temp EVERYDAY! the only difference i see with this T-Stat is going down the highway it sits a lil under half. But driving around town it is perfectly normal. Also, it takes a lil longer for it to warm up, but other than that it behaves just the same.

86svo9L
06-15-2012, 03:26 PM
So why did you blow the cash on it? I was under the assumption that it was not getting up to temp, which would be a major contributor to your current issue. But if all is well, good luck on your build.

I used to in Jr.High before my friends and I had our licenses. Thing burned oil like a pig, none of the electronics worked so we got a big spotlight for a headlight and we sawed the muffler off so it would go faster. It did around 60 mph, but would be deaf when done riding. Got to love small town life, lol. All said and done we had like 25 dollars in it total, counting purchase price.

You must have a non-suspended driver's license to operate a moped in the State of Iowa; your moped permit at 14 is a form of licensing. My buddy got an OWI and this question came up, but if you get your license revoked for any reason you are not allowed to operate any motor vehicle on public roadways.

I agree that a big problem today is people don't work hard. No one takes pride in their work, or takes time to stop and smell the roses as they say. Everything is a rush. Get fast food, hurry home so you can watch reality TV. Nobody enjoys doing lawn work, or making a bench or whatever it is. Those are poor examples but I think it gets the point across. We are a country of consumers and its pathetic.

I' was just standing up for Dallas, it seems all anyone does on here is give him shit. Dallas has helped me out several times. I don't know his job situation right now, but I know he can work hard. So its annoying to see him insulted because he doesnt have a high paying job or a good line of credit or whatever it may be, for whatever reason.

I hear that, I don't live in a town anywhere near the size of CR and such. I'm going to college for a teaching degree that won't end up making me any more money than a factory job I could get right now. And we have enough factories here in town that if you REALLY want to you can get a job there if you try hard enough, and the jobs aren't even that hard just a bit mundane but with the ability to pull 40-60k a year for no real education investment it's a pretty good alternative. It's basically my back-up-plan if something doesn't pan out with my schooling for some reason, hell some of the factory work I would enjoy. Either way I just don't see how people can stay in careers at establishments that pay at or barely above minimum wage. If you REALLY want a better job, you can get one unless you've really screwed up with felonies and shit on your record.

i get the tough love from jesse and know what hes tryin to say. This is how i see my situation and why i did what i did.....

Ok, i had my DL suspended but got a work permit to drive to and from as directed. I got a wild hair up my ass and decided to drive on fathers day. I got pulled over and paid the price, and its my own fault. So i said to my self, "i lost my work permit at this point, wont have a DL till sometime next year, and all the car is gonna do is sit...." So at that point i told myself to sell the car. "If i can get $3k out of it, i can pay off my loan, and pay off ALL fines" So thats what i did. So im now working part-time at Junge and, at least for a lttle bit, im gong to just enjoy life. But here in a few months i would like to go back to school for body shop. But thats a whole other convo.
