Are you planning on taking it out the engine piece by piece? Lol, take the retarded stickers off and it's not a bad looking car. I think you will have a decent ride when all is said and done. Keep at it!

I was going to ask the same thing! LOL, don't seem many people tear and engine down to a "short block" to pull it! Looks good though! will look much better with a V8 under the hood FOR SURE!

rotaries are the goofiest looking things

Good luck on the swap. I can't help but laugh at the "Epic Fail" sticker though. lol

Dude, with the amount of time you spent tearing it down to a short block it could have been out and on the garage floor already lol!

maybe he's going for the no engine hoist so lighten it up and lift it out method

Well beings that he no longer has lift points on it that may be what he has to do :)

Either way, good job getting some work done.

me and tomi wanted to get it down to the "block" to see what it looked like. it only took a couple hours last night, and we didn't have a hoist. if my neighbors is still being used for a few days might as well just drop it out haha

What are you going to do with it? I'll take it off your hands if it's free.

X2... I enjoyed yanking mine apart! Felt bad because it was still running/driving with only 40K miles. however, people only seemed to want parts anyways, sold the rotors, housings, wiring, transmission, etc... all separate and got about 4X what I wanted for the whole engine/trans/wiring setup as a whole. i was asking $400 for all of it and ended up with just under $1200 when I parted it out. Trans was about 1/2 that though...

Noticed a few things. random parts painted black make me think the previous owner probably knew exactly what ws going on under there. That exhaust manifold is weird as hell. You may have some nice coilovers on there, and the paint looks pretty damn good.

Engine bay also looks clean, I would however reccomend just pulling it all out at once, THEN, tear it down for fun. but its not like your in a time crunch so whatever works. I pulled a dsm engine out the bottom before, no hoist makes you do weird things.

yeah haha no hoist was insane, whole bunch of jacking and unjacking, kicking, pulling, pushing, rotating, and praying nothing gets smashed, when we finally got it dropped car was almost 2 ft up then bam. engine hits and we drug it out. the oem oil pans on these are freaking strong, not a dent or crack from the whole engines weight i was suprised. definitely need one to put in the 5.0 though. haha

just so you know, tearing down is often MUCH easier and requires MUCH less know how than putting back together. i'm not putting you down, just making sure you're paying close attention to how everything is working- learn as much as you can from this step.

I am going to tear it down to post it on nopistons.com, like steady said you get more cash for parts then the whole thing. But also i just want to see how the rotory is, i know its got the two housing, and triangle shaped rotors and as they spin they bring in air, push out exhaust and combust with the help of the spark plug, or somethin along those lines.

i can see why haha

It had to be stripped because the engine harness had to be "preserved" to sell lol and the fuel injectors were under the manifold which couldn't be reached without taking out the manifold. And we didn't have an engine lift, so we had to drop it to the ground and drag it out. We did alot of the pulling apart so we wouldn't have to do it later because he is parting out the engine.

AutoMods

keep the engine harness around until your done with the swap just in case. can't remember now but i think i used a few connectors off mine and they are probably hard to buy seperately
