Went to vegas to visit family. Kinda a spur of the moment thing but it was either rent a Chevy Impala for $25 a day or a jeep for $35 a day from yahoo travel. So I choose the jeep. Then fox rental ran out of the 2 door wrangler when I showed up so I got the 4 door upgrade version for free.

i looked into some legal offroad areas but they were like an hour away from the strip and I didn't have time. but in vegas there is lots of offroad areas but not sure if and where its legal. So I was just driving back to my brother's home a different route and seen a jeep and a truck screwing around so I pulled off the highway and joined them. Turns out the local guy said he didn't think we were suppose to be driving there but he has been driving in this area for 2 years and nobody's ever bothered him.

this section below looks mild. and for off roaders it is mild. but it is steeper then what it seems in the picture. I tried leaving it in 2x4 just for fun but I eventually couldn't move forward anymore until i put it in 4x4

pictures don't do justice. felt a lot higher, steeper and bumpier then the pictures show

Here is a shot that shows how steep some sections get. drew a red line on the path

Sweet. The only rental vehicles I can ever seem to get are like Dodge Caliber's and the like..

I'm kinda looking forward to my next rental opportunity...with even the bargain basement v6 Mustang now having 300+ hp..should make for a good time. For me that is, not the car so much..

Anyways..Crazy scenery out there. Bet it was kinda nice to get off the beaten path a bit.

must be a good time to go to Vegas- i'll be there over Easter weekend. i'll probably be too loaded to be driving anything though.

i didn't get any extra insurance, probably should have. mainly i was concerned about punturing a tire, there was a lot of rocks i was driving on and the tires weren't real aggressive like a jeep owner would use but instead more of a 70% worn cheaper rental car tire. i do remember I had to check a box that said i inspected the tires and they all held air

AHHHH I MISS VEGAS ALREADY! Going to keep an eye on decent priced air fairs for the fall!
