That would be a big step up, not much of a dd though. I've seen it first hand and it's pretty badass.

yea thats slownsteady's . it could be a daily driver, nothing wrong with the platform per say, just depends on how the build was planned for street or drag or both .

If I had my dd paid off you wouldn't have the chance to think about buying it...

Nice! LOL...

It is amazing the amount of emails I get about the car, even more amazing how retarded 90% of the emails are! LOL, I had a guy come out last night that is 100% going to buy it as soon as his Camaro. Pretty neat actually, he was really good friends with my dad back in the 80's and early 90's. Some how, he knew who I was after almost 15 years.

I told him first person to show up with cash is going to get it so...

Is your "rex" the black one with the big ass muffler that's sideways, that is not covered up by anything because it's so damn big?

Hey Keith I hate emails that people talk in sentence fragments. It gets annoying trying to decipher what people are asking or saying.

idk if that's sarcasm or not lol. it will need a new hood but it looks pretty clean. and 89k is pretty low for that year car. i hope its legit and he didn't just find a new cluster somewhere. that would suck haha

DONT trade that crx for a non turbo rotary! I would imagine that the rx7 would be slower, definitly get way worse gas milage and probably burns a shit load of oil too.

There is a reason why u don't see many rx7s on the road. The engines r finicky. I'd go for a swapped one.

Like the 5.3 one on there for $6000, I'd get that one.

Finicky as they may be, they really are a fun little setup. Easy (enough) to work on, decent resources for information online..

I don't know that I'd go with a non-turbo either though. If you can find a healthy TII, I'd say go ahead, but otherwise, the swapped options are relatively plentiful nowadays and fun.

I never did mention mine has like 45K miles I believe... When I bought it, the registration was so far out of date that I didn't even have to pay any fees on it! LOL I think it was last registered in like 2002 or so....

did you end up selling it?

sLoWnStEaDy
04-07-2011, 05:41 PM
Not yet, my dad's buddy that wants the car has to sell his Camaro first.

Lots of interest but I forgot I took the FPR and carb off of it so as of right now it isn't running. Forgot all about it...

well i picked up this 86 needs some tires bad. but runs alright, no burning oil or anything, stays cool, it was bought new by some guy, and garaged most of its life until he gave it too his son who then sold it. its something different to work with. i hope it stays together haha, ill come to you with any questions and what would be good to swap into it.

I've always been partial to fb's myself fc's are a close second, I dont think a rotary is something I would count on living for a long time. They are not torque oriented in any way, they burn oil and hate heat sound like shit with any sort of exhaust (Personal view) BUT that is a fantastic platform for a car that handles well. I hope this car works out for you.

Well now you just need to decide what direction you want to take the car..a good suspension, bushing kit and tires and you'd have a fun road course setup.

Or start shopping for an 5.3 lsx engine (most cost effective) and transmission and checking out the granny's speed shop site for swap parts. For the record i've seen longblock 5.3's going for less than $500.

Oh, also, it is burning oil. Make sure to check your oil levels every fuel fillup.

Also, don't try to make any more power with the n/a rotary. You wont and its just annoying when people try. Short of pulling the motor and porting the bejeezus out of it, it makes about as much power as it ever will. +3 hp and -10 tq is not worth a deafening exhaust.

Someone jsut described my car to a "T". I have learned that once you get into a rotary its a whole new ball game. You buy one, you better be wanting a project for as long as you own it. Dont get me wrong, there are plenty that last and run well, but everything has to be jsut perfect for them to be the least bit happy. Still for some reason think they are a damn cool design.

ill get some in a day or two, i just got the white hood swapped out for a red one but its sitting in my garage while im trying to think of a way to get the stock fuel pump out haha. the bolts are so corroded they flake into pieces when touched. and i can't drill em and use an easy out since there's like a full tank of gas, that would be some nice fireworks lol.
