As i mentioned in another thread, I bought a 99 firechicken
A few of you asked about my trip and saw I was looking for a vehicle, and I mentioned i was kind of looking at another 6speed fbody just because they're comfortable and get great gas mileage. I was basically torn between something like a CRV / Trailblazer / GTP / Fbody.

I accidentally found this and picked it up pretty quick.
Would of been nice to have the room of the other car but at least I'll have more fun in this and be able to do something with it afterwards. I love this car so much more then the camaro I had.

83xxx miles - 6speed - firebird with ram air hood / t/a rear bumper & wing.
Car is all stock aside from a muffler delete and shifter.

I'm actually looking for ideas on what to go with for a muffler, I'd still like a decent sound but would like a muffler due to my trip going to be taking me through some commie states :)

Basically for now the only thing on my list is maintenance. I want it to be in tip-top shape.
Current list: New waterpump / new alternator / new belts / new pulleys / fix my cruise control / plugs / wires - just all the basic stuff.

My vote for best catback exhaust would be SLP's newer Pro-flow. Very clean sounding and good looking too. Gmmg would be my second vote, but its pricey and if you run an off road y it gets raspy. Buddy of mine has a magnaflow catback and it sounds pretty good too. Just stay away from flowmaster

Yeah no doubt, no flowmaster will ever touch a car of mine haha.

I'm mainly just looking for a muffler for now so I don't get bothered by cops driving through the commie states.

I'd like to go with magnaflow / pace setter combo when I do the full exhaust.

I have been toying with some ideas for a new project/toy and one has been an LS1 camaro/trans am, unfortunately all the ones I find are auto...

If I were to find one it'd have to be a firebird/trans am and it'd have to be a manual so I obviously love your car. Not really a fan of the wheels but that is it. I look forward to seeing what you do with this one. DONT sell it right away!

This is the first car I've really just completely fell in love with.
Super comfortable, fast for stock, low miles, original, looks great.

And yeah the 6speed for me is a must. Auto simply isn't fun. I knew I wanted a car I'd finally keep, so I knew I had to find a 6speed - because I'd just get bored with an auto - that was one of the big negatives of my old firebird for me.
I actually have a friend willing to sell me some chrome ZR1's with basically new tires for only $600, it's damn tempting!

magnaflow/pacesetter is exactly what my buddies z28 has. It sounds pretty good. The proflow definitely has the throatiest sound though.

btw your going to need a stock hood to cut down on wind resistance during your trip so i could swap you hoods when i get a t/a lol.

I haven't heard of the proflow, but I'll look into it and try to find some youtube clips of it.

I don't care for magnaflow alone but I've heard it on some cars with full exhaust and after headers and all it sounds great.
For catback only I prefer SLP LM, but they just sound crappy with headers and more.

And stutz lol, ovaboost and a local buddy have been harassing me trying to get my hood already lol!
Ovaboost even offered to give me a T/A front bumper, painting his hood my cars color and giving it to me + cash for it. I told him at that rate he might as well just go buy one new haha

dig the car andrew- did you get rid of the Laser then?
Missed this post. Thanks and yeah. It was odd too, cause literally one day I was just like "I'm done" and put it up for sale. I just suddenly didn't want it AT all.. Whereas with the talon it was REALLY hard for me to let it go and I still regret it. I regret nothing about the laser though except buying it. I regret buying the camaro too. I just didn't like the camaro for some reason - but I love my firechicken. The kids who bought it drove from chicago to get the laser, and I drove with them riding. I launched it and beat the hell out of it, and it blew out the oil drain line gasket and was spitting oil and they still bought it and just stocked up on oil and drove it back to Chicago.

Anyway main reason I came back to this thread was to update.

I fucking absolutely love WS6store, my shit shipped out yesterday and I had a huge surprise when it was here today at like 2:30pm.
They even called me right away, letting me know the headers I ordered weren't in stock, and got me fixed up and some other headers and y-pipe shipped out today.
Awesome customer service, awesome shipping. I will be using them for pretty much everything I can. Glad to help a local place out too.

Also finally got my exhaust put on at my buddy's work. Looks SO much better, I'm not embarressed to have anyone behind me now. The only thing that I hate about the rear now is my paint chipping wing, I'll have to get it repainted soon. I want to paint the rear valence black like my buddy's too.

How ugly my exhaust used to be that came on the car:
Before: Big massive truck-like tips that you cant tell so much in that pic, but the left one aimed completely sideways and the other one was crooked.

I just really like the stock WS6 tips, they just it well - I can't recall how big they are if they'd even work for me.

car made 384whp at Speed Inc today.
Could of made more but I didn't want to max out my fuel setup.
This winter if I feel I need to go faster I might do heads, but at the moment my only plan is gears, bigger injectors, fuel pump, P&P throttlebody and hopefully a 9" rear. Probably will need a clutch sometime in there too :)

Gears it will be getting soon though.

I just got home and forgot to bring my dyno sheet in from the car with me, and am too damn tired to go back out and get it hahaha, and sunburned..

The drive up there the car did decent with some bucking now and then and bogging. The drive back was near flawless :)

Very happy with the tune!

Awesome 384whp is great for just your bolt ons. What was the torque? If you need injectors we do stock them at work, 42lb, 60lb, and 80lb and walbro/bosch pumps and the clutch too.

Domestic Disturbance
06-07-2011, 10:41 AM
I'm surprised to hear that'd you would need fuel upgrades so early. Did they recommend that? What duty cycle are they at? I saw most 28lb cars get 420 or so before they start to max them out, and usually around 450 before pump is really an issue. Thats really simplified depending on setup but that was just my impression. Good numbers none the less.

Clinical
06-07-2011, 11:35 AM
Yeah, the duty cycle was at about 80%, which was mentioned to me. But when it made 384whp I told him I'd be fine with it just fine tuned from there.

Car has a lot more in it, just could use a few other things however I'm very happy with where it's at now.
They also told me that I was probably losing some hp from just how fuckin hot it was.
I did the whole drive home with the t-tops out and I could barely breathe from how humid and hot it was... really need to get my A/C back.

Sometimes I wish I would take mine to a dyno, just to see what its putting down for my Daily Driver...meh. Saw a youtube video of a guy running a caprice with the same stuff but with a 750cfm and it put down 395hp to the wheels supposedly. Who knows lol.

But none the less, nice rwhp numbers man :-) Happy for ya.

No, older brothers wedding is getting in the way, of all the days...believe me, I wish I could go. Maybe if I'm lucky, if its early enough, I can still head up. I would really like to. The car has been running good since I got that fuel regulator swapped and I bet I finally can get some good full passes out of her problem free, slicks and a 3k stalled launch, looking for dipping into low 12's!

EDIT: Picking up my 383 short block today :-) Hehehe

Dyno sheet isnt very impressive. Only put down 383whp. It's what I get for going there with quite a few problems, but I didn't want to lose out on my $100 I had to put down since I ended up having to rush to get my car done due to my stripped headbolt issue mostly.

However I did get pressured into racing another T/A in town that puts down 403whp and supposedly has ran 11.9 before. To my and everyone elses surprise I did pull on him in both runs.

I'll be taking the car to the track friday night, but probably wont be any great times with street tires / babying my 10 bolt and stock clutch.

I hardly race outside of the track anymore but I did get pressured into another race monday night against my buddy's LT1.

The LT1 has heads / cam / full bolt ons / stall / 4.10's
My car is cam / bolt ons / stock intake / v6 3.08 gears ( i know, changing them asap, my cam hates them )

Not sure what speed we started at since my speedo doesnt work.
Camera is in LT1 car. Sorry for crappy video, it was taken on a phone.
