well first il start with telling you a little about the car with the setup that was on it for a little over a year.
was just a budget built vitara d16 with stock head and ebay turbo. including the tune there was less then $2500 in the build. it was daily driven everyday rain sleet or snow here in iowa.
on the dyno the car made 265whp on 16psi. and at the end of its time it was at 24psi with unknown whp. 300whp is my guess. got taken to the track a few times when i could. best time was
11.9 @117mph 1.9 60ft on barrowed slicks and trans with lsd
here is a video of the fastest run that was caught on tape. hitting boost cut in 4th
12.1@110mph 1.7 60ft http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_fa9Wh8By0
now il tell you about the plans for the car now and some of the parts lists.
the plans for the car since i now have another stock 96 civic for a DD
my goal last year was 11's this year the goal is getting into the 10's.
everything is getting upgraded except the block. im sticking with the same fj distributors H beams with vitaras. 25k on them.
parts list that i already have include
fully P&P head, crower springs S2 retainers stock valves
comp 59500 cam edelbrock cam gear
SLS topmount manifold
precision PTE 6262 turbo with ported s cover (non billet wheel)
bosch 1600cc injectors. il be running E85
Go-Autoworks backdoor FMIC
bosch 044 inline pump
omni 70mm TB
parts that are ordered but still waiting for from greg at www.go-autoworks.com
golden eagle intake manifold
inline fuel filter
Go-autoworks catchcan
fuel system including rail aeromotive regulator all lines and fittings
parts that are still needed
lsd
drag suspension
wheels and slicks.
now here are some pics of the car and the current work on it
taking the cage out of the car to redo it to meet regulations

the car still needs some work. it sits now with no interior or cage. i have been waiting for my order from greg so i can have the car able to start. then it can get driven to a shop and we can get the cage in. then after i get a trans it can get tuned. the stock diff is missing teeth so i dont think that would make it through the tuning session.
the whp goal for the car is 450-500whp but im not really worried about what power it makes just want to run good times at the track.
let me know what everyone thinks and any questions that you may have

no sir greg just gives me great pricing so i go to him as much as possible for stuff. got his turbo off his car for $575 and only had 6 passes on it and some dyno time.
just a great guy to work with so i try to give him buisness and send people his way.
and idk if the billet wheel makes much difference. the turbo will be more then enough for me. made over 500whp on his hatch with d16 also

well tonight i worked on the car for a whopping 20 min.
took the black box off and put in the go-autoworks drain back plug
and got a fitting for the feed line into the turbo put on.
and got the drain line ready to go on after i cut the excess off the line.
not a whole lot of work but all i could get done. my stuff from Greg is on the way so il be able to get the inline pump and the fuel system on the car.
and already got the exhaust fabbed up just need to put the flange on it and cut up the hood.
spent a but load on a few fittings today at the hydrolic store
so heres a few pics

Cool build. When you say drain back are you referring to the turbo oil drain?
boostedsohc
03-08-2011, 09:21 PM
The drain back is for tge catch can. In stead of tge catch can filling up it drains back into the block. And since the block is open it also vents blow by and releases more crankcase pressure

Good stuff. I think though, you may want to add a cross brace on the steel mount for the seat, and some large washers to avoid tearing/bending the aluminum off those bolts. Spread the load out for the aluminum.

Il be mounting the seat to the cage aswell. That will take a lot of the stress off of it. But I see what your saying about washers and stuff. Il prolly add some when it's actually in the car and ready to be mounted the final time

the up pipe is good! less pipe less lag on the turbo. faster spool. and this is going to be a track car primarily. and i love how it looks. and honestly 4in on yours is probably over kill i would think. but if it works for you i cant say anything ya know.

it might but the fastest single cam honda that holds many records had a 3in DP and was making upwards 700whp.
and depending on what turbo he has its most likely a 2 1/2 outlet anyways. mine is 2 1/2 outlet with 3 inch up pipe.
but i would agree with your quote no kill like overkill. mine as well kill it alot right!?
how much power does his car make? what setup?

in a single cam?
and all the records were on vitara pistons. whp on stock sleeves and also fastest pass but that was with a sleeved block still on vitara pistons.
i think it will be a long while before JFK's records will be beat. the problem ive been seeing and this goes with jfk's car is that with sleeving the block helps hold more power but the castings of the block are cracking. jfk's car pretty much cracked the whole casting in 2 peices and he was guessing it was 750whp but that is not proven.
and another guy on my other forum im on just made 619whp i think and his block casting started to crack and he welded it back together
heres that guys thread

ahh its a bseries. whole different motor setup then me.
that thing better of made over 650 then. no reason to have one if you dont make a ton of power. they make over 1200whp in the outlaw cars.
would like to see what it has run tho. bseries dont make the same amount of trq to whp as the single came either. but they cam make much much more power

3" downpipe seems a small for 700whp. it would work but you'd probably gain power by going bigger. Now if your talking about a 3" pipe that is only like 3 feet long then it probably doesn't matter but if you talking about a 12 foot full exhaust then the restriction adds up. also if your wastegate dumps to the atmosphere then that would be like having a larger exhaust also
I'd like to see you and garrett have a showdown at the shootout

that car only had a DP that went past the oil pan and nothing farther then that. my up pip is a totaly of maybe a foot long.
and my WG also does not reroute back into the exhaust. it is going up out the hood also.
i doubt the car is ready for the shootout. right now i still dont know who will be tuning it. i could probably get it tuned really soon but it cant go to the track with the open diff in it now. and the diff is missing some teeth so it would explode.

B is not an easy way out. Its a smarter way of making power. People know what I made is impresive for a Honda, nothing to brag about thought. 666whp. Some room to grow, but need to use this much first.
Like Ryan stated, 4in yeilds more power. And adding on exhaust added power too. So that hood exit actually might lose you a couple ponies.
Get ready for the shootout. Should be fun, Nick Jordan is driving my car. I won't be able to. Another wrist surgery...Weak. Should be fair game then.

im not wanting that much. my goal that id love to see is 500whp. but more id just like to dip into the 10's for now.
we will have to see about the shootout. i officially have everything to get the car running now. just need to put it all on. and drive the car to a guys shop to put the cage in. and then worry about suspension and slicks. i could always throw in my welded diff for a event hahaha and hope the axels hold

idk if it would be close if you were running 140 traps. i imagine if i make 500whp it will be low 130's traps. it would all be in the 60ft if it were going to be a close race. il see if i cant get it done in time but im not sure it will happen.

it goes back into the block. the shit you drain out of your can after its been sitting is the moister that gets in there and makes it look nasty. the oil will never sit in the can. it will immediatly go back into the block. its very common
not gutting the car up. will have carpet rear side panels. from front seats up is full interior

I'd leave the lavender , something different and already painted it. check out garrett's plaid valve cover
Looks to me like your catch can setup will not circulate. I think you'd have to have one line running to intake vacuum to make it circulate (which on a turbo car would require check valve to stop boost from going into the valve cover). And also you'd have to have a non-vented catch can. Both your valve cover lines will push out with crankcase pressure to your catch can and never suck in. Should work the way it is though, perhaps only one line vent line was needed. You don't want oil or mist to go back into your engine because it is combusted blow by gas and is moist, corrosive and dirty but for emissions reasons most oem setups have to recirculate thus the standard pcv system.
Scott
03-22-2011, 09:41 AM
Yeah I was trying to refer to the moisture that will be in the catch can, there should be a very little amount of oil in there anyway where I wouldnt think re-circulating it is going to help much.. If you run your engine low on oil because its all coming out of the breather you will have bigger issues I think.
I emptied my breather this year for the first time in 2 years and there was maybe a table spoon worth of crap in there, it was mostly water and oil that looked like snot.

moister shouldnt gather up in the can like it does when you dont have a drain back. this system has been used a lot and greg from go-autoworks has this on his race car and so do many other people so i think if it were an issues i would have popped up be now. specially would of heard something on the honda forums that i am on much more then this one. im not to worried about it really. if you think about it the stock PCV system reroutes back into the same location the drain back is. so it would have problems from the factory.
Scott
03-22-2011, 03:40 PM
Well the PCV runs it through the intake tract of the engine to be burned again so its going to a totally different spot.. Im not saying it wont work, Im just saying I dont really understand the point of it, why run 2 more tubes to the valve cover if the huge drain hose is already plumbed into the crank case? It doesnt matter it will work fine for you Im sure, if you really want good crankcase ventillation put a vacum pump on that bad boy and make more power while your at it

also did a 11.2 @121mph missing 4th gear. i think that was the 10 sec pass.
highest mph was 133mph on a 11.4 pass.
delt with bogging all day. first it was onthe launches then after got the figured out it would bog a little in 2nd

a spool? as in the tranny?
i think it was lag. just needed to let it hit the limiter a couple more times and i think it would of helped a ton. il get a vid up
burnout wasnt that good either. just a few things that i think held me back. track wasnt the best either. maybe next time tho. since the MPH is more then enough to dip into the 10's just need seat time

well thought id throw in a update. car still running great. this morning i woke up and went out and cleaned the garage out where its parked. since i dont have a garage or off street parking its at a buddies house. been just sitting behind his house with the cover on it. my friend doesnt live in the state since he took a new job so me and another guy take care of the property. mow the lawn ect. well the shop out back is really big just full of shit from when his dad died. (his dads property he inherited) i wish i took a pic before i started cleaning. couldnt walk through the shop hardly there was stuff all over.
i spent 3 hours cleaning enough room to get my car in there so the neihbor cat couldnt claw at my car cover anymore.

no it was heads up racing in a single elimination bracket. the only two cars that made 10 second passes were mine and Casey's and he red lighted going backwards. not sure how you do that.
anyway and I was disqualified 2nd round due to a very small coolant drip on the track coming from some kind of defect on my radiator cap or rad filler neck. you would've ended up battling oldskoolracers's (ed b) low 11 second car in NA form. His car is really consistent though, damn slush box.
