Hey, just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Jared and I drive a 2004 WRX. I moved back from Alabama when I got out of the Air Force a few years ago. A couple weeks ago I needed a valve seat for my TiAL wastegate and finally found out about Import Evolution. Stopped by and met Ryan and Colton, and now after 2 months the Subie is finally back on the road.
The current project started with a crack in the radiator. I figured while it was down (I ordered from ebay, didn't know there was a local option!), I did a new timing belt and water pump, and finally decided to bolt on my external wastegate and bigger intercooler. I ended up with new injectors, gauges, fuel rails, ceramic coated exhaust, powdercoated intake manifold and 2 months of downtime while I waited for different parts to show up. Just started road tuning it with RomRaider and EcuFlash.
If anyone is familiar, I started the RomRaider/Enginuity (http://www.romraider.com) project in late 2005. I moved on for a couple years but just got back in to it and spent probably 20 hours working on new features this week. Don't give your money to Cobb.
Anyone know where I can get a 3" 2-bolt exhaust gasket? The leak at my catback is big enough to throw off my wideband.

I actually have a spare 3" 2bolt downpipe gasket somewhere here I got an extra of from extremepsi.
I'd send it to you for free if you paid shipping lol. I'm down in Burlington.
Otherwise, I know extremepsi carries them.
That's a really sweet project there with the RomRaider.
One of my options for a more practical car when I move away to a different college next year is a WRX and if I would get one and do anything with it I'd probably check that out considering I'm a cheapskate.
Your car looks awesome. I love how you've done the front end!
Any dyno/track numbers?

That pic is actually really old, I haven't taken many lately. That was an autox at Talladega GP, a motorcycle track near Talladega. Lots of fun, but my clutch was slipping all the way home from that one. We used to autox about about 15x a year but we've only been once since we moved back to Iowa. Should be back out this year. I bought a kart last year but haven't really touched it. Gonna be for sale in the spring.
Here's a road dyno from RomRaider. This was just with a full exhaust, ported stock turbo and tuned for 93 octane (and running 91, hence the knock @ 6k)

Baseline road dyno after the upgrade looked pretty similar. But that's with 25% timing pulled across the board, wastegate boost (.9 bar) and nothing done to fuel other than scaling injectors. I think I have the injectors dialed in now so I'm ready to tune open loop fuel (once I get that gasket) and then start tuning for power. Hoping for a little over 300 to the wheels on E85.
Thanks for the offer, I already ordered a pair of gaskets, just hoping to find some local because I'm sick of waiting for parts. :)

Gone through a lot of different wheels in the last 7 years..

Glad to see you made it to the board Jared. Car looks real good. I have pretty much given up on tuning my forester with the locked ecu, pretty well ruined it for me.

Sell it. ;) I'll send you a pm about the gasket. The snow put a damper on road tuning but I'm still anxious.

Tactrix should be able to unlock it for you for $75. If you don't want the downtime, buy another ECU. There are several for under $100 on car-part.com, and I'm sure someone would be interested in buying yours even though it's locked.

Not really. And I'd really like to get a new one so I can log to SD without my laptop in the car.

Ok, gasket is on and the LC-1 is still reading lean. I'm still not 100% sure there's no leak, but I would have thought it would at least get better. Do bad o2 sensors read lean?
my sensor read all over the place when it went bad from race gas. also if you have ignition or spark issues in a cylinder, the afr will read lean because of all the oxygen in the exhaust. i left a coil unplugged it it read really lean

Welcome. I will have to stop down sometime since i live just down the street. I assume you've been tuning the car a few days ago since you keep rolling by my house and heading out to the highway.

Really? Thought that car looked familiar. I live on Thompson. Probably seen me rolling by on my tractor, too.
