Well after showing some pictures of what ive been working on, i was told i should start a build thread.
I started off about five years ago with a mustang BMFL's old car and loved it, i blew the transmission out after about a year and a half and it pretty much just sat. i thought i was going to go fast after that so i dumped all of my moeny i had into it, went to an automatic because people said it was just as fun as a stick if it had a manual valve body... needless to say that transmission was in for less than a week, i traded the automatic to another board member for a stock t-5. i started to get back into the mood to work on the car again until one day.... me my wife and a few friends were eating at mo brady's, after finishing up, we decided the girls would ride togeather then the guys should ride togeather. we were waiting at my friends house for them to show up for about fifteen mins, and then we get a phone call, someone had done a hit and run on my wife. and she chased her down got the plate number (some how with a bent rear control arm it scared the piss out of me driving it at fifteen mph). we reported it to the police, cops were very unhelpful, we called every day, to find out they had closed the case due to not enough evidence, finally we got someone to reopen the case, they found the girls car at a body shop, she said she hit a deer. changed her story a few times. at this time i was in school, had no job, and my wife was self employed and didnt show that she profited any money for the business so we didnt even try to get a loan. after this all happend i decided i would let the wife drive my nice truck since she needs somthing reliable, and traded the mustang for a dakota. after seeing the mustang loaded on the trailor and seeing it drive away it was very depressing, and instantly i wanted another one, one that would be bigger and badder than that one ever would be...
after months of serching for rollers, knowing i wanted to go big. i stumbled across an old "King of the street car", when i seen the car i knew i had to have it. this car was perfect for every reason, the price was great, the car was very clean, and it was a 89 just like my old one, knowing that this car had been into the 8's i figuared the body would be rippled a little bit and figuared it would be kind of rough. the car turned out to be better than i expected, and the guy i got it from was really cool to work with throwing a stock k member under it again, and even met me in dekalb (he was from indiana). i got the car for 500 dollars like this

After i got it home i couldnt wait to start blowing money and working on it, i know what alot of you guys are going to be thinking, why take it down to bare metal, or even why mess up a car that has a nice looking paint job. i just wanted to make sure i have everything that is wrong with the body fixed, i only want to do it once, and after making the mistake of getting rid of the last one, im not planning on building another one after this so its gotta be everything i ever wanted
basically stripped down to nothing

As far as the build here is the plan
Body:
cobra bodykit, cobra spoiler, 03-04 cobra wheels, narrow the front ones. The car will be painted suburu blue with a four inch cowl hood.
Motor:
Trick flow twisted wedge heads, tfs stage 2 cam, edelbrock intake, 306 bottom end (for now) 1.6 scorpion roller rockers, 60 lb injectors e85 fuel.
Power adder:
70mm masterpower turbo
Suspension:
Lakewood 90/10 struts, 50/50 lakewood rear shocks, eibach drag launch springs, antiroll bar, tubular k member and a arms, upper and loweradjustable control arms for the rear (unless I find some reasonably priced adjustable ones).
Transmission:
Either going to go t56 or tko 600 I really like the tko600, but have been told a d and d t56 is stronger, I've driven 1 t56 car that had a short throw shifter and even driving it normal I was scared I was going to mis a gear or hit 6th trying to hit 4th or even was worried I'd hit reverse aiming for 5th, so it will probley be a tko600
My goals are
600 rwhp, 15 psi
as far as 1/4 mile times, I'd really like to hit tens, we will see. I do plan on next year going dart 408 block just no money for that now

Niice man, lots of work to do there!! MY buddy had a tko600 in a fox body with a brand new clutch, bell, trans, everything.. It shifted horribly into 3rd, I drove it for a day and tried adjusting the clutch and different fluid but it still sucked. I have a t56 in my 03 cobra and has a marginal clutch in it right now but it shifts like a million bucks compared to that tko600, just a little fyi with my experiences. MY brother might have a dissassembled 347 with trick flow twisted wedge heads for sale but not sure whats goin on with it.

Thanks for the thought, but I've already got pretty much all my parts for the build, motor, turbo, etc. I have heard the tko shifts hard for the first 500 miles, then it shifts just like a t-5.

No prob man just throwing it out there because his never changed a few thousand miles, maybe it was just a fluke or something. Its a bad-ass project and I wish you luck with it

i'm one of those people. I like the approach of keeping it simple, get it running first, do a few mods at a time, always trying to keep the car close to a running state as much as possible. I see a lot of failed projects people get in over their head, over budget, dog gets sick, lady gets knocked up, lose motivation etc then the car sits half done forever. but if you always keep the car in a close to running state if something comes up at least you can still drive the car around and its not on blocks.
but thats too late for you and it can definately work out nicely for you if planned properly. sounds like a fun project just keep at it and keep us updated

Thanks guys, the only thing that I am truely worried about is wiring under the dash, but I don't think it'll be to bad, I've got four parts cars, have had motor running a lot of the whole finiancial situation is a big concern, but that's why I bought most of the stuff before touching the body.
I've always wanted a driving project, but if its close to driving, you don't wanna pull it all apart to work on it, atleast in my case. But I have also seen a lot of failed projects, I am not a quitter, and I don't get burned out very easily, not my first car I've done, but the first one I've taken this far.

Well I've got the car completly stripped now, it is off to the bodyshop tomorrow, I got rid of my stock 8 year old twisted wedges (didn't even have stamped trick flow on the front) and got a set of completly built trickflows, they were the factory cnc heads, have tons of bowl work done, a competition valve job, lots of other stuff. I will post pictures of the car leaving tomorrow and a lot of other stuff

Marine paint stripper, whole cartook a gallon. Make sure you use gloves, andmake sure u have plenty of paper towns. The gel stuff works well for big areas, the stuff that comes in a spray can works awesome for everything else. I started off using sanding disks, but I wanted bare metal just to make sure nothing was there that I didn't know about, I only found one spot on drivers quarter that had mud but that was because of a dent

Well I went to the body shop, he's been on vacation. He did however get everything all sanded down on the 1 side, pointed out every single dent, took all the bondo off of the quarter to see what was under there, apperantly what had happend and the reason for the bondo was someone had rolled the quarter and didn't know how to use the tool, the passangerside is flawless so I'm guessing someone else did that side. He did put bondo on the roof for one small dent, and got the roof popped all the way up and sturdied from the big dent. He covered up a big dent on driverside also. He says it should be done on christmas... I know that's a long time but I told him it had to be perfect, show car quality and that time was no matter as long as it was done right. I have had this guy do work for me in the past and he has always done good work and is by far the best bang for the buck, I cannot complain about the price he's charging me

okay sorry i lost my account on here, update... lol cars still in bodyshop not a big deal though changed directions on the car a few times since i last posted... i do have one updated picture, the car has been in the shop for quite a while now it is in primer and engine bay is painted, i dont however have any pics of the primer, but i do have a picture of the engine bay. I decided i am going to go with a mod motor in it stuck between the big 3, but looks like i will either go coyote or terminator (leaning more twards termi swap).
sorry for the delay on the post but this car will be done some day
