Picked this little guy up this morning for $400. I bought it form the original owner but I didn't know it until he pulled the title out. I was like "oh, it's not an Iowa title" and he said "yeah, it is just from 1985 when I bought it from the dealership". That caught me off guard! The chassis has 208K miles, the engine (22RE) has about 80K on it, as well as the clutch. It came with all the paper work, has been serviced every year at the same dealership since 1986, Z-bart (sp?) apparently hates him because they had to replace panels every year or something along those lines... didn't get exactly what he was saying, something about the Z-bart warranty though...?
The interior is practically MINT with the exception of the crack on the top dash pad. He has had seat covers on it all since it was brand new. There is a little front end damage but I am heading to K's Acres in a few minutes to get a grille and bumper. Not going to worry about it too much as we are going to do a spray paint camoflague paint job anyways which should also help the rust disappear into the paint job! LOL Going to mount the offroad lights and throw some 31"s on it as well and that should be it for now. Come spring, we are turning it into a giant Go-Kart.
I like the little gauge cluster on top of the dash. shows what angle you are at both left/right and front/back and has an altimeter as well. Not that I really need any of it but it is neat none the less...

Nice score. My father-in-law just picked up a Honda Passport for free, needs a transmission. I wish I could find deals like that.

Oh Yeah...
I got the replacement fender, grille and corner light put on today as well. No front bumper though, the one K's had was in about the same shape as mine! Found a bunch online for next to nothing though so I should have one in a week or so.

probably not going to sell this one. When I am done driving it, I am turning it into a dune buggy/go-kart
HOWEVER... I will sell anything if I make enough of a profit. I wouldn't let this go for less than $1k. That being said, if someone offered me $1k tomorrow, it would be gone.

OK... not going to spray paint it. I am getting a bunch of flat Acrylic Enamel from Car Colors instead. At least now I will finally get to try out my heated shop and my new spray gun setup! Probably be a couple weeks before I get around to painting it though.
Still have to get a front bumper and make my light bar to mount my four 6" offroad lights.

here's a shot of the replacement fender, corner light, grille and I straightened the front bumper out a little bit too. I didn't spend too much time on the bumper as it is getting replaced anyways along with the little metal piece below the bumper.
When I get the chance, I am going to pull that front end stuff off, hook her up to a tree and pull that drivers side back out another inch or so, where it belongs.

Well, i got a few more inches of meat in the wheel wells. Couldn't really go any bigger without doing some sort of lift and that is not in my plans at all so I just shoved some 31x10.5x15's in there.

They don't look much bigger then the 225/65/15's that came off it but, they are a few inches taller/wider.

I have decided to build my own front/rear bumpers. there are going to be pretty simpler though, nothing too funky. I had ordered a new front already but apparently they aren't in stock and it was going to be 6-8 weeks before I got it so I just said F* it...
I am almost ready to move in to the new shop so I should be able tot start some fab work before too long I hope. Now that it is getting too cold out though, I have to go back to work for a few months so I won't have nearly as much free time.

8's... if not faster... I don't think you realize quite how much time/money I spend on cars... Out of every 10 projects I have, I probably post one of two of them on here. I'm not just about going fast, I like cruisers and off roaders and just crazy weird shit people forgot about it. I just like saving shit form the crushers and/or teenage kids that thought they could do 10x more than they actually had the ability to... In case you are interested, I am looking at a '58 Buick Special right now...
Also, I think if I throw a decent shot of nitrous on the mustang, it would go 9's. should do high 10's N/A, we will see come spring.
