Looks like they are getting a bigger engine and the 5.7 is getting a power bump, and a new v6 too!

i wonder if they're making a new engine into a 392, or if they are just stroking 5.7 like theyve been doing for a few years. if theyre just stroking the 5.7, i wonder whats going to happen to the 6.1?

Gone bye bye prob. I already heard of 392 rumor. It needs to drop 200# via alum or something. Then it would be up there for sure. Right now a quick hiway cruiser.

I like how they show the GT-500 as the car to compare the 392 Hemi too, saying it's for the " hardcore enthusiast that wants the best". But the camaro comparison is saved for the lower hp models......lol

there's pretty much no way around it. they built the Challenger on the same platform as the Charger/300. no matter how much you try to lighten it up, its just way too big of a platform for a true performance car. they do look pretty sweet though.

Yea I love the looks, like giant old challenger w none of the rattle trap bs they did in the day. Friend had that 70 challenger t/a w 3 2 bbls. I see they make a hood like t/a for the new ones. If they used some alum up front and back like a stang that would help a lil. Stang hood like 18#.

They (chrysler) is being pretty optimistic on any those comparisons I'd say based upon my tech skills 392 might barely beat a 5.0 and s/s for a much higher price.

Maybe completely wrong, we knew a gt 500 was a tire burner but the new 5.4 engine has dropped 150# off the front. They may hook ok w drag radials now. A crappy gt 500 driver maybe have a real hard time getting a mid 12 before. If a 5.0 new gt w good driver w lots of practice and broke in engine can do a 12.7 or lil better that gt500 better do a 12 flat imo w good driver. I already saw that at cfr w last yr car so 11.8's. For 54k what I'd want.

I heard the 6.1 was growing to a 6.4

I don't know the bore spacing, that's the ultimate size it can go minus .15 or so. If it has say 4.3 then 4.15 bore and I do not know where cam sits, the stroke issue prob. If like a 351 sbf then 430 or so, 427 for sure. Right up there w ls7.

On the bright side, I'm really glad to see a bit of the 'muscle car' war making a bit of a return.
It's just too bad it can't be like the original when there were so much more, cudas, roadrunners, firebirds, dusters, gtos, capris, etc etc etc.

Yea these days lot less options than old days w like say 5 engine options 2 or 3 transmissons and 4 or 5 rear end ratio's. Still lot of ways superior to old days. A lot of old stuff well would not start at zero or below and drank gas like some do beer. Those old 383 road runners were heavy, I test drove a used one w 3.31 auto and single plane intake w a holley. Duster and demon were good w a 340 or challenger and charger w a 440 six pak.

Ya, but its still as good as most of us have seen in our lifetime. I mean, the power numbers cars are making now days are nuts. If you broaden the selection, there's a lot of american muscle being pumped out. Camaro/mustang/challenger, charger, 300c, g8, cts-v, vette, gt500, Taurus SHO, cobalt ss, tbss, srt8 cherokee... I know there's several others, but each of those vehicles I would own without a question.

Hopefully they don't ruin it with new gas milage standards like the rumors that are going around say.

I wonder what how affordable the "new" cars are though compared to the older cars when they came out.
