Looking for a shop to shorten and balance a driveshaft and swap over gears in a third member.
I know there is Sadlers, but have no personal experience with them. Are they a recommended shop, or is there someplace else I should look at getting the work done.
thanks

I know Sadlers did a good job on my Toyota drive shafts that I had lengthen, shorten, and rebuilt.

What's the difference in length between the T56 and AY6?

Driveshaft needs shortened 1/2" is all. GM yoke installed, and balanced. And I have a 4.30 third member I need a trutrac installed in.

I got H&W Install my Trutrac, and like you I have the 8.4" rear end but with 3.15 gears. So I know they got experience with at least one Toyota 3rd member.

Shouldn't be much to it if the 3rd member is already setup. Got any pictures of them?

Edit Found a picture. If the carrier is aetup already you would just have to bring backlash back into spec by moving shims around while keeping bearing preload the same. Probably need a shim kit as the writup I found noted a difference in carrier size from stock to trutrac.

I have 3.15s stock, which is why I had to buy a complete third member. I can't swap the 4.30s into my carrier. I guess they are slightly different. Because of the gear sizes.

I bought a complete set-up third member. I could just pull mine and install this, but it is an open diff. So I bought a trutrac that I will install into this third member. At least that is the plan.

I got it now. Should be a nice gain going from a 3.15 to a 4.30's I'd take a look at it if you brought it up when the trans is done. Shouldn't be hard at all.

I should have it this week so I can do that. :bigthumb:
Parts were ordered for the trans today. He said they may go out today otherwise tomorrow, so you should see them in 2 or 3 days.

as for the gear ratios I am going from stock
1 2 3 4 5 6 R
4.17 2.19 1.49 1.19 1.00 0.84 3.67
to T56
1 2 3 4 5 6 R
2.66 1.78 1.30 1.00 0.74 0.50 2.90:1

So just getting gear spreads that make sense is going to be a nice gain LOL.
