I know this is a repost - but it needs some quick exposure.

Hey guys -

Per Scott Gardner (manager at Cordova):

Cordova is looking to have a True 10.5" class on May 15th with their True Street Event. It would be run on the 1/8th mile and follow the same rules as are ran at Eddyville and Cedar Falls. The True Street camp is going to be a little low on car count, so Scott is looking for at least 6-8 cars to add this true 10.5 class.

Payouts / Entry fees will be in line with what Eddyville is (perhaps even better). Since this isn't sanctioned by the True-Street folks, there will be NO MEMBERSHIP fees to pay.

Please post up if you would be interested in running this class. I'm planning to go, but like I said, we need at least 6-8 solid commitments to make it happen.

Rules in case you're not familiar:

Class Description

The Small tire heads up challenge is a heads-up class designed for factory style door cars and trucks from any major OEM manufacturer. Competitors will qualify on a .400 pro-tree. Eliminations will be an all run format on a Sportsman ladder. Two qualifying rounds will be held prior to eliminations. In order to compete in eliminations, a competitor must make at least 1 qualifying pass.

Permitted Tires

-Any slick up to a 10.5" factory sidewall printed width allowed. Tires must be mounted on a 15” diameter rim. "10.5W" tires are not allowed. Tires must have factory printed widths on the sidewalls.

-All DOT slicks up to 12.5” factory sidewall stamped width. Tires must have factory printed widths on the sidewalls.

-Drag slicks (not including DOT slicks or Drag radials) can not measure more than 10.75 inches wide.

-All drag radials up to 325 series factory sidewall stamped width. Tires must have factory printed widths on the sidewalls.

-Hoosier tire, part number 18192D06 will not be allowed.

Body

Lexan front windshields door glass and rear windows will be allowed, as well as fiberglass replacement body panels.

Chassis/Suspension

Chassis/Suspension Front

Front suspension modifications are limited to bolt-in replacement components. Factory front frame rails must be in stock, unaltered position. Stock firewall must be retained and in stock location. Minor notching for clearance of bell housing, distributor, supercharger or intercooler permitted.

Rear Only

Stock type rear suspension or ladder bar rear suspension permitted. Aftermarket 4-links are not allowed. Stock rear frame rails required. Minor notching of outer portion of frame rails for tire clearance only permitted. Inboard section of rear frame rails must remain stock, unaltered, and in factory location. Mini-tubing permitted; no full tubs. Aftermarket anti-roll bars and coil-overs permitted. Wheelie bars are notallowed.

Engine

Any engine combination and power adders allowed.

Transmission

Any OEM type automatic or manual transmissions allowed. Manual transmissions must be clutch assisted. Aftermarket heavy-duty cases allowed. Air shifters and trans-brakes are allowed.

Electrical

Stock headlights and tail lights are required and must be functional.

Tech

Must pass all NHRA Safety Requirements including chassis certification and driver's license requirements.

Decisions of race personnel regarding rules will be final

Please feel free to contact me at 641-891-7718 if you have any questions.

Thanks!

-Christian

To be honest, I'm a little suprised they set the entry fee that high too. But I'd like to get out and travel a little, so I suppose I'll make the trip. I figure the best way to get support for our local stuff is support some other folks too.

-On a side note, Eddyville's payouts have gone up and the entry fee is the same $60, with the help from a new class sponsor Quick Performance out of Ames.

GEORGE B!!! ( QS)

You're going to run an 9.0 index class? If the car is fast enough to run 8.90's - 9.1's you'd be better off running true 10.5. The car will be competitive and payout would be better.

Just a thought. 8)

I havent had any track time this year, car has been out only once so either way im giogn to be a few tenths slow. I will be able to actually make it into the show in the 9.0 class just be slow and try to make it a round or two. Who knows maybe everything will go my way.. Wont no till saturday either way i will give it hell!

From my understanding there will only be a 8 car feild in the true 10.5 class! I think i best just try and stand in the 9.0 class.. Pluss my car only runs 6.0s- 6.13 in the 1/8th as of last year anyway, i know when i get some tuning time in this year it will be well into the high 5s for 1/8th mile times but thats the probem i havent made it out yet so this will be our first outing on a good track.

After talking to Becky from True Street earlier this evening I highly doubt there will be more than 8 cars in true 10.5, so you'll be in. She mentioned an "8 second car" but that he would most likely be staying in the 8.0 index class.

I've only been out once this year too, and went 6.20's getting my license runs done with a soft tune up. I doubt I go any faster than 5.90's.

Plus it will give you a chance to get ready for the door car shootout coming up in 3 weeks at Eddyville! :supz:

Unless my buddies decide to go to St Louis - but we arent going to go unless everyone can go and take their cars.

Otherwise me and my friend will come up Saturday to watch it all go down!
