OK, I used MS Paint so don't mind the shitty "photo chop" aspect of it as much as the overall appearance difference. Which do you like better? I am trying to get the "smooth" look that I like and add a little rake to it but I am pretty limited with what I can do with just MS Paint so... I think it gets the point across though... I just wish I could get the 17" black Bullit wheels in there somehow but....

#1 is "stock"
#2 is with all my little changes
#3 is the same as #2 but WITH door handles

I remember the shaved doors on the neon causing me some problems but only because the battery was draining for some reason or another. I am just not 100% sure I want to commit to shaving the door handles. I am trying to make the car more my style while at the same time not butcher it. I don't see a need to keep it really stock though as the drivetrain will be FAR from stock, it will get a "mini tub" (widening the stock wheel tubs) for now and a bunch of other changes so....

#3 looks the easiest but unless someone studies it they won't notice.

in all honesty, shaving the door handles would probably only take a couple hours, and it is fairly easy. Plus I already have a couple shaved door kits and trunks kits laying around, now that I got a new welder and unlimited access to free metal it's only a time thing...

my personal favorite is #2 now that I look at them. I didn't think I would really like the shaved door handles but I do. Of course a lot of this is just something to do because I am too scared to start on my floor/trunk pans :baby:

I probably like 3 best. I don't like to rely on batteries to get in a car but thats me.

what about JUST based on the look though? Just purely based on the cosmetics of it?

LOL... That was my problem with the neon but it had a slow draining issue I wasn't aware of at first. plus a lot of people have some sort of "back up", on the neon for example I just ran an extra wire and hid it in the engine bay. only works if you don't need IN the car to pop the hood though... A lot of people will run an "cable" somewhere that they can just yank on the doors will pop open, only problem then is you have to worry about someone finding said cable :)

no mirrors and a louvered rear window? that might get annoying if you plan to drive it a lot...

I don't plan to drive it "a lot" but I def. plan to drive it! I do understand what you are saying though, I can stick my head out the window LOL... in all honesty though I can't even remember the last time I used revers except to back out of the garage and that's just backing straight out so. Not like I will be taking the car to Wal-Mart or anything like that. Also, I have not decided on the louvers or not, but the car will be getting 15% tint all around so either way it will be hard to see.

That is true the 71-73 is worse than a new camaro or any mustang ever made to see out back if the fastback. I have factory louvers for the 69, they really don't hurt looking out back on the car. I forget exactly how big the 73 mirrors were... sure my 69 has the sport mirrors and fairly sleek and small. They also have that cable setup which can be a pos w age.

You know really probably most resale $ would just be stock looking w the stripe kit..... I'd fix the pans and probably suspension.. At least the 73 was superior power steering setup. My 69 is such a pile w that slave crap. About killed myself driving it last time at 60 mph. Needs big $ to fix it also.

Idk if u have seen this.. anyway the pile about 1979..

That picture is of you/your car? says it's from 1982... Sexy lookin car! and nice hair... LOL what did it cost you to fill your tank that day? average gas price in '82 was like $1.05 or so i think...

the car has a completely new suspension setup under it, new rearend too. the P.O. put a ton of money into the car then just completely cheaped out on the paint work and floor pan replacement. I think he got carried away form the start and just ran out of money. I men I have boxes of NOS stuff, down to single nuts/bolts/clips packaged and labeled individually, brand new gas tank, all new fuel lines, completely new black interior, brand new complete car wiring harness, and a bunch more stuff...

On a good not though, I got into the rear quarters and there is actually very minimal rust!!! I was scared because I scratched the paint with a screwdriver and found bondo but it was REALLY thin so I lucked out there. Only the underside "lip" on the wheel wells needs replaced.

Also, not worried about resell, as I don't plan to sell it and I think the drivetrain would be the welling point if it did go up for sale.

However I got to thinking that if I put those 71-72 stripes on my '73 people would probably think I am retarded or something. I just don't like the '73 stripe. I might just do it a solid color or something, I just like the 71-72 stripes MUCH better than the '73. IDK, my interior is black so I can pretty much paint it any color I want to without it clashing with the interior....

I don't like shaved stuff on muscle cars. Just me. Grille looks cleaner without the emblem though. Maybe get rid of the silver ring and solid turn signals in the grille.

Yea ok whatever yr I forgot it had a yr on it w that pic.... My avatar might have been 79 idk got the car in 74 after I wrecked the 65 hipo 4 speed car. Yea I was somewhat radical but hung out w car guys. Mostly.. I was going to kcir that day, ran a 14.1 at 101 on street tires. Think I had the shelby sidewinder 4v alum intake w 780 holley w the crane fireball hyd cam then idk. I got tired of adj. the solid cam and put a hyd in it.

I got a lock right 3.50 to go in the 69 car gotta pull the 3.50 trac lok cause its messed up and w a stalled auto it won't go anywhere spinning one tire.

You know how some guys say they feel like they should have been born a woman... I have always felt I should have been born in the mid-late 50's. To be in your late teens, early twenties in the 70's must have been fucking awesome!
