well, I am a sucker for old stuff, doesn't really matter what it is, I just like anything form the 60's and 70's so I picked up a little project. Should only take me a month or so to get it done, only thing that has me concerned is the slide surface itself, its pretty banged up. shouldn't be too hard to replace though, just a really thin piece of metal. plan is to do it a nice red metal flake. Once it is up and in place and what not I am going to build a "play house" of sorts underneath it. Nothing crazy though.

If it isn't TOO crazy expensive, this is the exact paint/look I am planning on:

i saw the thread's name saying you got another project and i was like, damn - ANOTHER!?
But this doesn't look so bad :P

I just hate for the Mach1 project to get sidelined because of all your other projects lol, I'm pysched to see that come together.

But this definitely is different and oughta be pretty good when it's finished :)

LOL... I am actually getting my engine back from Horn this week so I can actually start on making some real progress. At the same time though I need to fix a header leak on the SuperCoupe and figure out what is going on with the RX5.0 too so...

got some work done on it today... Skye and I got it all tore apart, I would say probably about 90% of the nuts/bolts snapped off which is no big deal as I wouldn't have reused them anyways. We got some of the fiberglass work done and even a couple smaller spots got the bondo and primer on 'em. We have already decided on a pretty big change which is the paint. After how much time we spent today doing the few spots we did, we came to the conclusion it just wouldn't be worth the time to make it as perfect as it would need to be for the metal flake automotive paint.
So we are just going to use high gloss exterior house paint, no sure on the color now though, thinking may be the cherry red still or me might try to find something like a Sassy Grass green color not sure yet. We are going to do the underside of it black though, that much we did establish LOL... Not sure what to do with the rail and steps, they are galvanized and I am not sure how paint would stick to that. Might just use that "spray paint" gold galvanizing stuff or something, IDK....

When I used to work for Glidden ICI paints, we sold an industrial enamel that was harder and durable as hell and would stick to anything. Sold it by the pallet to a lot of factory's and manufacturing plants in stock safety colors for handrails and the such. 4308-0100 is the white base part number. They have it in Black, Red, Orange, Yellow, etc. pretty expensive though at $45 a gallon, but not as bad as some epoxy's. I'd definitely recommend it. I think the nearest ICI Paints is in Bettendorf though. Might try Home Depot. I know they sell Glidden there. Hope this helps.

Well, we are dumb and just realized there actually isn't that much area that would actually need a lot of work because where the steps are and where the slide piece goes would be covered and there for wouldn't need painted. It will probably just be one of those things where when we finish the work we will make a quick decision and just get it done...

Not really... I got about 90% of the body work done and then we moved into our new house. It is in storage right now, I will be taking it to the new shop and finishing it up. I am hoping to have it done by Christmas as I am planning to give it to my dad.
He got to talking about it and how he used to go there a lot when he was a kid and what not and said it would be awesome to have it in his back yard so all of the grand kids could play on it. His dad died when he as 14 and he said a lot of the memories he has of him where at Cherry Hill park.
