OK, some may know I am considering very hard moving to Arizona. I will give some details and show a few pictures and you have to guess the price. Also, just because I like it does not mean I can even come close to affording it LOL...
don't try to cheat or anything, I will tell you the prices after a while. Why am I doing this? because I am bored...

no 40- $50,000 housing market in arizona is horrible still, you can get a 250k house for 40k my parents are going to buy one with a pool 3 car garage and so on for 40k exactly. Dirt cheap

they are both like $120K... I know the housing market sucks but it sucks EVERYWHERE and that house here in C.R. would easily be $400K+
Skye showed me the pictures/info and I was like "yeah, that's nice, too bad it is probably 4X or price range." then she showed me the price! same as a 1500sq.ft. 3bd, 1.5bth house here with a one stall garage. Those are up in the northern part of AZ as well (within like 50 miles of Flagstaff). Comparable (in my opinion) house for sale here in C.R. for $500K
Full basement, Pour basement, Master bathroom, 2 bedroom(s) on first level, 3 bedroom(s) on lower level, Breakfast bar, Eat-in kitchen, Formal dining room, Lower level is 1588 sq. ft., 2 full bath(s) on first level, 2 full bath(s) on lower level, Master bedroom on first level

RIGHT! we have looked at like 10 houses (only online obviously) and it is insane to me! as far as "cost of living", it isn't any worse down there than it is here. I have talked to probably 30+ people so far in that area and it seems to be about the same as here. The only complaint about expenses is trying to keep the house cool for 4-5 months when it is 100*+ all day. However I figure it can't be much worse than doing the same thing here in iowa and then spending another 4-5 months trying to keep the house warm when it is below zero outside... IDK, I think the goal is to move next fall or early winter. I don't want to leave here after 4 months of freezing as cold just in time to get there for 4 months of fiery heat...
and for the record, those are only two of about 200 houses in the $100K-$150K range that are at least a 3bd, 2bth with a minimum 2-stall garage and minimum of 2500sq.ft.

I believe arizona and nevada are both 2 of the hardest hit when the housing market fell through. Thats when all the toxic assets started gaining speed too. I bet most people there still owe double what their house is currently worth. You could own a piece of recession history :bigthumb:

When I move south I'm going to South or North Carolina.
No freezing winters like we have here.
And light emission laws :P
The only good thing about iowa is our emissions here!
I couldn't imagine living in a place like Commiefornia :whip: :whip: :whip:

houses around Pheniox are the prices im talking about, gated comunites, pools in back 4+ bed rooms ones the banks own are down to 40k-70k for homes worth 200+ All my family is buying a second home down there for the winter. Looks like ill have a place to vacation. and I also LOVE that city. To bad there is no jobs there anymore. or else i would be there full time, (besides summer months fuck that 120+ temps)

seems kinda cheap to me. vegas got hit hard too but i have some family there and i was just down there and happened to see some prices on foreclosed homes. Those houses in vegas would've still brought over $300k unless there were in the worst area of the city.
One thing that may be decieving is in vegas I've seen banks list the house below market value and let people have bid wars on them and they sell over asking/advertised price.

The biggest things you've got to worry about with buying a home that large would be:
1. Cost of utilities. In arizona, a home that huge would easily cost $500+ per month to keep cool in the summer.
2. Rapid rising value of the home. If and when the housing market turns around in that area, those McMansions will rapidly start to rise in value. That would be outstanding if you wanted to sell it, but would be horrible if you wanted to keep it. They'll reassess the house and the property taxes will shoot through the roof.
However... if you could find a good job out there (or start your own successful business) none of these issues would matter because you'd be making bank anyway.

That and because it's so affordable right now every scumbag can now qualify to live in those neighborhoods also. Had it happen to my friend down there. What was once a nice upper middle class neighborhood is now a low rent one.... I'd check the area out thoroughly before buying....
