I had planned to do alot to this car but have a new job and don't have time to build an engine or do body work. Time to sell! I love this car and don't want to sell but it needs to go so I can get something else. As stated it is an 85 Cougar XR7, it had the 2.3 Turbo 4 in it but I sold that a while back. I do however have a disassembled 302 for the car, spare hood and trunklid, rims and a trans left over from the old engine. I'm just sick of it sitting in my shop and not getting anywhere with it and not being able to drive it.

$700 obo I would consider a trade (Possibly)

Will you trade it for a fox body mustang?

Signature Edit recommendation:

But anyone can build a mustang...

to:

because no one wants to build an 85xr7, and I want a mustang.

Its the same damn thing only stretched a few inches. Not everyone mods a Cougar, its unique.

Just don't know that I have time to completely blow it apart to build it the way I wanted to.

there is a reason for that...

Not really, Mustangs just have the hype behind them. Did you know that the fox chassis was used on more cars than just the Mustang? Some of which were lighter than the Mustang? You can hate all you want I really don't care. Different strokes for different folks.

I just realized that if you sell this car, you'll have to change your screen name. I say keep it, strip the hell out of it, give it the Krylon touch, drop in the SBF you got, buy a cheap nitrous kit, and have fun with it. Being completely realistic, you're just gonna take the money and piss it away like we all do, or buy another project that you won't have time for. Not ragging on YOU per say, but just seems to be my experience along with a few others I'm sure.

I should just throw a 351 and a cheap 5 speed/auto in it and call it good for the time being

Not that I have anything against you, this is just fun.

I think you should continue the project. Seems like most of the time, those that stick with a project for many years have the fastest cars. buy and sell cars all the time you usually lose money and even more so time/labor

I think you should pick up a 351W block (happen to have one for you) and build a 408W... Or I have a rebuilt 351W if you wanna go that route :)

Seriously though, you should keep it, build it and make the mustang owners cry. Nothing I love more than to watch fox body owners (all 3840657238998674867 of them) cry when they get beat. I am all about being "unique" and personaly i'd rather get beat in a unique car than win in a "cookie cutter" car anyday! Everyone seems to have a fox body, third gen, or DSM these days...

Well I guess the consensus is I should keep it and just build it. I guess I should just go for it and try to make some time and find some really good deals on parts. Thanks for the kind words fellas. I'll keep you posted.

If you decide you wanna go EFI, let me know. I've got a 5.0 Mustang intake manifold and a harness possibly that might help.

I dont think theirs all that many dsm's in circulation actually. Used to be Id see them out all the time. For a while their I felt like the lone DSMer in the area. Now Im the lone FXT-er.

I say strip that car down to nothin, do the body work, and slowly bring it back.

Yeah build it!
My Buds 86 TC gets a lot of looks cuz it's unique, and people hate being killed by a 2.3 :)

Drifte- You an FXT-er as in a Fozzie? If so sweet! Sadly when I lost my job I sold my 05, but a good friend of mine owns it now

i love the looks of those. My buddy had an 87 xr7 with the 5.0 and that thing was fun. Wish he would have kept it and fixed it up. Good luck selling it, or if you decide to keep it good luck with the rebuild.

Hmm that's odd! Our neighbor has been there since the 60's! Reminds me of Clint Eastwood in Grand Torino!

The wheels were Devino Throbs. I miss my FXT so badly, but at least I get to still have visits with it :)

yea run around in a forester now. It would be fun to build it, drop it and run it on the street. But I want complete function, need the ground clearance, tire sidewall, and smaller turbo for down low use. But it will get tweaked. Yours looks real nice, if I have any questions I'll be sure to bother you.

I like the wheels on yours!

Mine was down about 3" or so, I dropped it with WRX wagon struts and springs. Thing rode just as nice as a WRX, and still had enough ground clearance so as to not trash the valence on the Plow drifts around here.

Yeah Hit me up if you ever go to do anything with it. I am still on the fence about doing all the work to do a 2.5T swap into my wife's 97 OB :)

That cougar looks like ass. And by ass I mean herpes infected cottage cheese dripping black ass. Do the car and yourself a favor and take it to the crusher already...

Something my car and your mom have in common. Eat a dick asshole.
