Watkins Car Show Saturday Sept 12th

This saturday in Watkins there will be the 6th annual car show that if weather stays nice should have between 150 and 200 cars. If you would like to enter your car the fee is $5 and that includes a goodie bag and a plaque for all entries. The event starts at 11:00 am and goes to 3:00 pm. There will be two trophies for each class, door prizes given away, and free pop/bottled water/snacks. T-shirts and sandwiches sold during show along with a 50/50 drawing. all entry fees and money taken will be donated.

classes: 66 and older all makes, stock/original, 67-79 ford, 67-79 gm, 67-79 mopar, 80 and up all makes, 2wd truck, 4wd truck, street rods, motorcyles, sport compact, best of show trophy, and special interest

Here is a link to where watkins is located if you have never heard of it. Take 30 west out of cedar rapids till you reach 26th avenue and take a left. 5 miles south of 30 is watkins.

It's always a great show. Its for a good cause too; the man that hosts it lost his son up north because of an ice fishing accident (fell through the ice or something) and he loved cars so they host it in memory of him. Anyway I've gone for about 5 years now and even though I've never placed its always been a great time.

Thanks to all who ventured out toward watkins on saturday. It turned out to be the perfect day to hold a car show with a record 207 cars for this event. Since the number of cars are increasing they're talking some changes to the car show for the years to come. newsteedspeed you are correct about steven's son (Dustin) passing away up north on a fishing trip. Dustin was the one who initially started this car show and they carry it on for him. They raised a lot of money this weekend that will be donated to a family in need. once again thank everyone who came out to support a good cause and having a little fun while doing it.
