So Its come to me about the tuning I have been doing on cars. And Ive ran into a issue. I think someday it would be great if I could have my own Dyno and be able to tune cars all day on it. But for now Ive done everything by street tuning. Im shooting around the Idea of a Flat Rate Charge for tuning, and if A dyno is Avalible it would vary by how much to "rent" a dyno. I have spent 1000's and 1000's on the dyno over the years, and each time I have learned a little bit more about Evo's, DSM's, STI's, Hondas, and Turbo cars in General. That combined with years of internet and Phone calls to Various shops and tuners, to be who I am today witch to me is a Decent Tuner. Im no "pro" yet, but have seen the work of some so called shops. I have had alot of problem with "free-Bees" as I like to call it and its not just with 1 person its happend a few times now. So to stop this I have come up with a Flat rate.

For AEM EMS its $300 for 1 gas map. $100 for each extra map (93, 110, C16 exc..)

This would be for anyone and everyone. Cause if I did it for Free for a "freind" it would not be far to someone else, the problem Im at now.

So Iowa Auto forum, give me your feed back on this. Does this sound far?

FYI : shop dyno time is around $225/Hour for a know shop good at AEM EMS

I think flat rate is the way to go, that way everyone knows how much it will cost to tune their car. The pro tuner I work with structures his by boost psi, then on how many maps you are looking for.

i like the idea, that way noone gets the "special treatment" just because they are a friend.

i like the idea as well...and most shops are very "in and out" with tune jobs, nothing really compares to someone taking the extra time and effort to FULLY tune a car like you generally do...yes a dyno is a good tool for it, but imo some street tunes can be just as beneficial...

I can get the same Effect street tuning, or better than a dyno, its a little unsafe, and I think you can only do it up to around 600hp, beyond that its a little to much power for the street to try and tune, inless higher gear load and road is avalible, but still 130mph for tuning is a bad Idea.

Like everyone else has said, you probably can't be more fair than what you are offering.

I would say thats AEM, Other systems would be cheaper.

This would be from start-up, to finish. Really can't stress how much work it is to get a car to start/run/idle with AEM. Load tuning is the easy part.

Seams fair prices to me Jesse, can't ask for much less.

^ A dyno would be great, but a AWD won would be best, alot of AWD cars around. and there is allready a 2WD one close.

Street tuning is ok for slow cars, but there is no way in hell i could imagine me and jesse taking my car out to HWY 100 and street tuning the camaro on spray like we use to the dsm's!

a NA car with alot of TQ is going to be hard to get a good tune on the street as it wont hook up well. Might not seem like it but george your DSM only MPHed 6MPH less than the camaro on spray. but has alot less TQ. Black widow im goin to be talking to this spring and using that dyno for my car.

Got to say if you use black widow make sure he buys that special pickup for coil on plug cars. And watch how the rear tires are loaded on the rollers, I got 10 more whp on the spray and burned off a lot of tread.
As it is he has a clamp around for plug wire cars and a optical pickup for diesels. Neither worked for mine. I'm sure some imports could have same issues. Not bashing just some details need some attention. He was cool and tried to make it work. A 4.6 new cop dohc takes some special stuff. The roller deal well I didn't pay attention either, should of insisted on resting rear tires on back of rollers a lil bit not in front of rollers. Car tires jumped off of rollers pretty obvious instead of digging in.

Rob what was your numbers on spray? how much are you sprayin? Iwould think a 3800lb car with 127mph traps should net over 600whp

The prices are good for a great tune on aem, dsmlink etc... and im glad your going to start making something off your tunes instead of nothing and a dyno tune would be bad ass. I will come to you for a tune sometime next year..

DSM Link would be much Cheaper, more like $100. There is not much Driveabilty to DSM Link V2.

I really don't know... On Trents dyno it put down 381 whp std 380+ wtq std w the s/c. On trents dyno w spray on it put down 497 whp std and 560 wtq std. A/f flat 11.7 on the s/c, timing 17 deg. for both. When I advanced timing to 23 deg on s/c I gained about 23 whp.

Fast forward... On Brians dyno (bw) which we had no rpm reading, it put down 448 whp sae, corrected to dynojet hp it was 490 whp on the s/c exact same 17 deg tune. On same dyno w spray it put down 458 whp and ruined a lot of tread. I only have a printout of that. If I remember right he entered gear ratio's 3.55/1 and 4th is 1/1 anyway. Wtq was at 440.

Imo 440/450 is about right on s/c at 12#. Add 100 to 125 whp on spray it appears. And around 180 wtq.
