Heres a few pics from the week of 7-24-09 my girlfriend Summer took. I own both of the cars and my brother Ken is racing my old black car. Special thanks to a member of this website BLACK for a great sponsorship and a opportunity to step our game up!! There has been 6 races so far at hawkeye downs this season and I picked up 5 feature race wins and 3 or 4 heat race wins, so obviously I have been fortunate and lucky so far this season. It is my brothers first year racing and he has already got a 2nd and 3rd place finish in my old car. We are shooting for him to get rookie of the year, 1st in rookie points, and for myself to clinch the championship..

Heres early in the year at Vinton Dirt Track!! Most fun I've EVER had in a car!
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg178/427fogger/P8240309.jpg

I had a little run in that night with BOTH my cars!! Nothing like bending up both my cars in one hit!! haha

So if your wondering why I havent been out much drag racing this would be the reason

Again another thanks to Allstar Home Improvement, H+W Speed shop, and Innovative Signs, none of this would be possible without them. Feel free to comment or ask any questions! No negative posts on this thread please.

Yeah Im pretty sure the car still has dirt falling off it now from various spots.. No one told me not to go out and pack the track right after they water it "with a open wheel car" so I went out just to drive around the track without knowing any better. Didnt have any sun glasses or anything either so I was just covered with mud everywhere, it was a great time.. Raced dirt 3 times in my life and finished a 3rd, 4th and got a flat tire the other time. Its some rough driving on a rough track out at vinton but its a great time thats for sure

how long did it take HIM to clean it off?? that's hilarious!
i think it took changing the panels to get all the mud off that car. had to use an windshield scraper that day just to get it clean enough to race!
good thing i enjoy this stuff. :yawinkle:

Vintion is a rough track. The packing the track thing is funny though, we use zues fastners on our sides so we can take them off and wash the rails and bars. But it takes up usually about 2-3 to clean the mud of our sportmod. Contrary to belieif some mud is worse than others, like Marshaltown is mostly clay and mud, which is exzactly like baby poop, it smears and makes a nasty mess. But glad you had fun on dirt.

Are those older Harris Chassis?

The white car is a older Harris chassis with a few left-hander updates.. The black one is a combination of a Dirt Works 7 and some homebrew chassis stiffening and modifications. The white car would be fairly labor intensive to get on dirt due to the offset of engine, trans and rear end housing in it but its still possible. The black one could be set-up for dirt with weight, panhard bar, shock and spring changes.

Yea don't you guys run your panhards bars right side of the frame down, where as we run our left side of the frame down. I was wondering about the engine offset on that white car. They both looks really good, how your crate motors holding up? The other question I have since i havent ever seen aspahlt cars. Is do you guys get the rear end hike like the dirt guys get, like how we get almost 12 inchs between the left rear and the quarter panel, with it being rolled over so far.

The crate motors are working great in both cars actually, black one has almost 2 seasons and a few dirt races on it and the white car Im not sure about since I bought it used but I know its got more than 2 seasons on it and none of them have been opened up yet. There is a slight amount of "rear steer" that we get out of these cars but not a whole lot really, the black car still has a few dirt car characteristics and that is one of them, it has a hint of rear steer when on the throttle due to the placement of the lower control arms but it seems to work well out there

Yea the crate motor is the way to go. We have almost 60+ nights on ours, we just put valve springs in it every year, and she runs like a champ. But I would guess dirt and ashalpt setups are completely different so. But its a cool hobby, alot of money we have had a rough year, frist night out we ripped the oil pan off our crate motor.
