Finally swapped in the 5spd in place of the auto, along with that I put in a 7.5lb flywheel, 6-puck clutch, LSD, poly filled motor mounts, short shifter, new axles, and wrapping up the traction bars today.

Good stuff. I just wish I had more power, can't even chirp the tires in 2nd gear. Oh, well, that will be phase 2.

Bring it to me Dustin, and bring Eric's wrx turbo with you :)

She's not ready yet. Still throttle body injection...though the TB is the same size as the outlet on that pea shooter....

I'd have to find high flow side feed injectors, and reinvent the wheel of Honda fuel management.

so whats phase two? Any plans as of right now?

krustindumm

no plans...whatever I find cheap.

Plans? How about that motor we tore down and is awaiting rebuild... Run that motor n/a with spray. Or devilsown injection kit. And or those bolt on jackson superchargers...idk much about those though.

krustindumm

almost impossible to find the jrsc kit for a sohc anymore, since the original Jackson Racing went out of business. The new JR doesn't offer them for D-series.

I could put a big cam and high compression pistons in it, and it would be reliable. (est: 135hp)
-or-
I could put on a turbo and it would be fast. (est: 185hp)
-or-
Nitrous, and it would be fast sometimes, and reliable sometimes. (est: 165hp)

I guess option 4 could be to hack up an Eaton from an old supercoupe or millenia and try to make it work, but I'm not sure that would be reliable or fast.

If I do a turbo, which I have some of the parts for, I still need a t25 size turbo and the flanges for it (already have the head flange), DP (with 4" between the traction bars and oilpan), charge pipe (crush bent this time), intercooler (I'd like to hack up a DSM smic to fit over my trans), and to finish the rebuild on that other engine so I have one ready, because I'll need it.

E85 is now out of the question, I found someone else doing it, and it worked amazing, too amazing. He never got ANY detonation, but it allowed so much cylinder pressure, it bent all four connecting rods. He was running 'aggressive timing', 11.5:1, and 10psi off a T25 :)

if you decide to go turbo, i have a 1g SMIC you can have for next to nothing or we can work out a trade of some kind.

Definitely, I'll let you know.

Drove it tonight with everything, plus Drifte was nice enough to add another muffler (a fart can) and it is fun. Even though it's lacking in power, it really makes up for it because I rarely need to slow down :).

What? haha why?

Drifte

exhaust was 1' short of making it out the back bumper. So I tossed in a muffler, all that weight reduction undone. But really the car is a lot of fun even though it has no power. The LSD is really weird. Once you get comfortable with the lsd and a car that literally handles like its on rails...you start entering corners at ridiculous speed. In the talon I'd enter much slower and at the apex go WOT, but the talon has a little more torque.

Dustin, if you need any dsm parts let me know. Tomarrow i'm going to be basically throwing all the stuff away. That goes for anyone else too. I have tons of crap.

IDK what I need, mostly a PM6 ecu...

Derek still has his HF manifold/adapter/RHB5 setup that I should get, but I offered him $50 and he wouldn't part with it.

Trev: You can do aluminum welding, right? Cause I can get a smaller battery and stick it on the x-member behind the trans, then stick a 'fixed' SMIC where the airbox & battery were. Then Autozone has some $40 self adhesive hood scoops, or I can just cut louvers into my hood.

That battery is on it's last legs anyway. It's getting beat to shit from not having a tiedown, but it's the wrong size and there is no (easy) way to tie it down.

Drifte

They can weld aluminum their. Why dont you go ahead and stick the battery in the trunk. Need to corner weigh that car. Get it a little more balanced...And bleed those brakes. Get some pics of it all cleaned up while it lasts.

krustindumm
06-06-2009, 12:19 PM
Battery in the trunk weighs more, and my trans side up front is lighter anyway.

I think the brakes are fine, but I guess it wouldn't hurt to check them out anyway.

krustindumm

It already does look cool. I attracted more people than Ricky's WRX, I even had a couple ask to pop the hood (OK, one person if you negate the tech inspector).
