Here you go way to fix that crappy built in all in one sound chip outputs. This thing will blow your headphones up or ears. Has a rca outputs to hook up to your stereo amp also, powered by the usb port and works real good w xp op system. I've got a hp laptop and a desktop and the sound sucks pretty much. This fixes it, when plugged in windows sees it and lets it work. It's absolutely silent in noise, etc.

Put on pink floyd dark side remaster, song one and hear that 25hz shake ur ears. It really sounds good. Hi ratings from headwize, etc. Oh the graphic eq in media player works through it also w xp. With this and mp3's and a stereo amp and spkrs you have a complete system.

I should of said vista op system, it's a lil smarter, on xp you might have to choose which one you want via the wmp options/devices/speakers/properties. I'm running a santa cruz sound board on this one, had to select the usb sound w xp. Vista will auto select when plugged in but maybe just this machine w santa cruz add on board. Whatever, the usb is x10 better imo. Look up pcm2702, the usb d/a if that interests you.

Not to be a azz or anything but trying to drive some akg or sennheiser headphones sucks w mine anyway (hp laptop w so called media version). Same w her hp media desktop, its weaker than a geo metro. I wouldn't even mention it as I know most ppl care less about audio like I do. It's like jesses evo vs a geo metro. I know you can hook up the laptop/desktop etc. to a stereo, been doing it for yrs but driving a good headphone is a tough chore to do w/o lots of bs. My wife doesn't like me playing music real loud so this is my option if I want good 97+ db sound. I won't bore you of tech details of built in m/b dsp's, d/a's etc. Needless to say they use cheap sh-t. The money is in the processor.

What I hear sounds awesome to me. To each his own.
