Congrats on homeownership, bro. You've done the right thing, and I think you and Kelly are going to be really happy with your new home. It sounds awesome!

Everyone join me in congratulating Dustin on becoming a first-time homeowner... in a recession, no less!

thanks guys! Kelli and i are really excited- we closed last night and already managed to move a pretty good chunk of stuff over last night. took Amos over as well to introduce him- wore him out running around the yard.

our real estate agent also informed me that since i havent filed my taxes yet, that i can get that $8k tax credit on this year's taxes even though we just closed on it. if that happens, we'll probably do a lot of the improvments right off the bat that we wanted to get done.

either way, i cant wait to be all moved in. i dont think ive ever been able to have all of my cars under one roof, it's going to be crazy!

That's awesome to hear about the tax credit Dustin. I'll have to get up with you sometime to come out for a visit. That's the funnest part about buying a new home is showing it off to your buddies when you get everything moved in.

If you need any help moving Wednesday or Thursday this week, give me a buzz. I have those days off work and nothing planned (except homework later in the evening).

nah- i was just celebrating it being Saturday. Kelli was with her friends too; and when she's not with me im like a dog without a leash wandering the neighborhood. that night i ended up at some tweakers house with some shady folks and a married lesbian couple- one of which took her shirt off for no apparent reason. weird...

You do insulation? I may hit you up before next winter! I feel like I could use some more in my attic.

Attics should have 12-16" I blow Celulose "used ground up newspaper" not only because its a Green product, but far better and cheaper than Fiberglass. you would need 24" or more to acheve the same R-Value, as 16" of Celulose...

For walls, I also blow Celulose, with a "tube" method from the outside. Never settles and is blown at 5.5-6 PSI

Its expensive but can be payed off in 2-3 years of heating/cooling.

All of the above is what the state/government standerds are for weatherization.

the garage was built in '03. it has outlets every 6' or so inside it; also wired for 220v and cable TV. walls are insulated, and im hoping to drywall them and the ceiling before this coming winter. its 950 sq.ft. in comparrison, the house is 894, hah!

I have always wanted to own a house where the garage has more square footage than the house itself. Good see you have got your priorities right Dustin, lol!

Congrats!

it is; 950 sq.ft. vs. 900 sq.ft.

Jesse- the lot is pretty big, 94x151 if i remember correctly. that, combined with the huge garage make the small house look even smaller!

thanks for all the kind words guys, im enjoying the hell out of the house right now. unfortunatly i wont have internet there until this Friday, but i'll get by.
