I've always been a firm believer in vitamins. Especially since if I don't take them in the winter I get nose bleeds all the time, but when I take them, I don't.
For a multi-vitamin I use Altrum Multi-Vitamin (http://www.altrumonline.com/redirect.cgi?zo=1170124&page=altrumstore/dnu)
They say six a day, but I only take four (I mean really, do I need 10,000% of my RDA for something.....I think that might be overkill). The important thing is the minerals are amino acid chelted. When a bottle says the mineral name and then oxide, that means it's the cheaper version that isn't well absorbed. Plus, the Altrum has enzymes and "superfood" stuff too. Things you wouldn't normally get in your daily diet, but research shows it could be beneficial.

Now as the saying goes, if you can only take one thing.....take a multi-vitamin and fish oil. LOL
Altrum Omega-3 fatty acids (http://www.altrumonline.com/redirect.cgi?zo=1170124&page=altrumstore/duo) have been shown with heart health, weight loss, cancer reduction, brain function, etc., etc., etc.. Wikipedia on Omega-3 fatty acids (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omega_3)
For those that lift weights or work out and get DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness), the one thing I found that helps reduce the severity and duration of DOMS is enzyme therapy (http://www.altrumonline.com/redirect.cgi?zo=1170124&page=altrumstore/dzm)
I discovered this because I began taking Garden of Life's Q-Zyme Ultra to help indigestion and then I read Enzymes and Enzyme Therapy and realized how important enzymes are to health. (http://www.amazon.com/Enzymes-Enzyme-Therapy-Jump-Start-Lifelong/dp/0658002902/minnesatheis-20)
I take a few others, like Coenzyme Q10 for my heart/gums and of course fiber. I wish my diet were better, but since it isn't, I have to supplement to ensure getting everything I need. For those that are just going to say, "Eat a healthy balanced diet and you'll be fine," then I encourage you to use fitday.com for a few weeks and see how unbalanced your diet actually is.
