well 6 weeks in the Army was all I got. I was there havin' a good time and everything until dinner chow mid 3rd week. I should have known better than to eat the "goolosh" but i did and I got pretty damn sick. So I had to go to the CTMC at which point they requested all of my civilian medical records and found out about all of my "health issues" so i got a Chapter 5-11 "administrative discharge" and just got back home the other night.

It was FUN! Due to my high Asvab score i had to take the D-Lab and scored high enough on that test that when i graduated i was going to have to go to California for 2 years for something or another and i was going to get promoted again as well to Specialist (got promoted to PFC down at MEPS before i even left).

SO ANYWAYS, no $20K bonus anymore so I don't get o have quite as much fun as i was planning but. I just order my B18A1 rebuild kit for the CRX and picked a a new tranny for the Malibu (will be for sale soon or trade for SUV) and then I will get started on the '68 DeVille i got a few days before I left (5X,XXX miles on this one with a 472 engine) So yeah, look for some updates on the RX7 and CRX before too long and look for the Malibu up for sale/trade soon as well....

Good to see you back, Keith. Sorry it didn't work out for you. At least it was a good experience for you anyhow!

So do you get anything for your time spent down there?

Yeah, I still got paid, they took $250 from my first check but that was it. I was told on top of the money for the actual time i spent there you get an additional check or two in order to get back up and going in the "civilian world" but IDK...

All said and done i walk away with aout $3K for my "troubles". I had fun and everything but after finding out i wouldn't have gotten to see my son again until he was like 8 years old i was OK with the discharge... I still get all my veteran benefits and health and all that crap so... IDK, I am glad to be home but miss it at the same time!

i felt the same way. but im thankful, as you are probably also, that you got to experience it. i dont take things for granted as much as i use to. have you noticed any changes about yourself after you came back?

Yes, Many changes... What mainly changed me was being stuck in the 'Discharge' Unit for a couple weeks. That place is worse than prison IMO, it would be the same as prison but you don't get ANY time outside, you don't get to see family, no cards, T.V., phones etc... you get NOTHING...

that whole One minute to eat thing got old fast LOL... it wouldn't have been bad if the food was actualy POSSIBLE to eat that fast! shit was so hard/dry there was NO WAY you could eat any type of actual meal in that amount of time.... but other than that it really opened my eyes to what i have and I am much more greatful that i have what i do and everything... Imagine if I would have been there as long as i was suppose to rather than just 5-6 weeks....
