surprised theres no head cam 6.1Ls pushing those kind of times. I don't know how many cam's are available for those engines yet but I would asume it would be quite doable with that big of an engine. Sure we'll see some this summer.

I don't know a lot about the car but a built mtr suitable for forced induction. Guessing rods and pistons, it has a cam, probably some head work. Some dodge guy sent it to me, always keep up w competition. That's a big s/c btw. 3.0L vs that tiny tvs at 2.3 L. They have that kit for 3v fords, the chrysler hemi products and soon gm. Now if we can have a job and some $ maybe stuff will sell. Isn't a cheap project. 6k plus the mtr.

Cool vid, but I just dont like these cars that much. Seen a murdered out one at H & W that I liked but that is the only one I have seen in person.

I saw one at our work sponsored kmart car show. A stock red one, tried to get a friendly street test, had the camera and rider. I have seen built crate new hemi mtrs of 600+ hp, guess somewhere we will see the built twin screw mtr. I'm not too keen on the weight mostly.

the drag pack cars are down to like 3100lbs- thats a ton of weight to cut out!

True Dustin, I have no idea what this car weighs though. If 3.9k w driver pretty good times. If 3.2 k then not so good. We'll see what it does w the twinscrew. 300's have dipped into 10's w spray and or different s/c. It should have around 750 800 whp at 14#. I don't know what the mtr put down n/a, just going off srt8 whp testing x2 approx. x2 the airflow. Pretty large s/c.

that challenger didnt look to be lightened at all(hood looked stock and i dought those wheels probably arent much lighter than stock), so id imagine its still probably pretty close to 4k- probably a bit over with driver. i know its been said, but still, DAMN THATS A BIG BITCH!

It really is a big car, which is the reason it takes 20's to properly fill the wheel well. The car is still proportionally good looking, but it is big. Its not just the challenger though, all of them are getting big. Here's some pics.

I'd pay a extra 2k to get 500# less. That's .6 to .8 sec. and in town mileage increased. Shameful imo to have 4k+# v8's. Idk what the co. are thinking, I'd sign a waiver for crash tests. Faster, mo mileage, less breakage seems to be a no brainer to me.
The one thing that hasn't been improved is the weight.

i still plan on owning a new challenger someday- maybe in a couple years when the price comes down a bit- and weight reduction will pretty high on the list. you could get a fiberglass hood, that'd shave a few lbs. maybe swap the front seats for something lighter. im wondering if anyone has swapped in a solid rear axle yet- that could save a lot of weight and be stronger as well. beyond those things, i really dont see how you could lose much more weight without really getting rid of some of the comforts.

Dustin no way I'm bashing the challenger only, that camaro and the new stang same deal. Look at the size's and my cobra is big. Alum fenders, hoods, door skins be a start, there's gotta a be a way. Back to the drawing board imo.

Btw Dustin there are employee plus plus going on but srt challengers aren't covered imo that's bs same w the vette and shelbys only a small incentive. Bs.. they want to get rid of cars make it hp ones too.

Never mind I'm just ticked off about bs and winter and a shelby guy sent a link on his dyno test. song he used.. Give me a beer and go look at the cobra.

I think automakers don't really have a choice weight wise. Most of the reason is cramming in all the new age performance stuff they want, along with comforts, as well as all the gov't requirements. For Chevy in particular to bring the cars weight down, it would need to focus on a redesign based around that idea and being more compact, but theres no point for them building a smaller car cause they already have the vette which has kept its weight down. For the cars that they are I like the think theyve done their best. They aren't the only new fatties on the scene, look at the new skyline.

The weight will have to come down. In 2012 the new gas milage laws and emmisions laws will be inforced, all cars have to get 35mpg after the 2012 model year, cars like this will not be sold new anymore. They say even the SS Impala will not pass under these new laws.

It will be left to the states on emission laws. I really can't see iowa doing anything cause no one lives here. Mo. is a joke lived there, pay a guy 100 get a sticker worse case. Cali and some other states, not going to live there. Fuel economy standards that is real I'd say new trucks won't be around, again too much pork, 5.5k# for a 1/2 ton. Btw fuel economy of 35 mpg is by 2020. currently it is 27 mpg.
