Well after Finishing my Garage at my new house. It was time to Do a little few things to the car ths winter that I didnt get to before. First was to Install my mustache bar eliminator kit, this makes the rear end solid and saves a good 15+ lbs, Next was some shifting bushings, and a lower clutch line (thanks Tbtalon for helping). Then it was time to get ride of some usless brakets and such, and remove my intake manifold to get ready for my new one. This alowed me to redo some vacum lines as well. Ill keep this thread updted as I get my new manifold, and a few other things. on with pics

Looks good. I'm unfamiliar with Evos, does the mustache bar replacement also stiffen up the rear drive line slop (if there is any) also or just reduce weight? Will it help with launching?

Jappbox
01-19-2009, 10:54 PM
I dont know if it "helps" with launching, gives it a solid mount so ther wont be any slop if there ever was any, but mostly its for weight reduction, and looks cooler. lol

I also some how found a good 40+ lbs of Crap I could take out for weight and it still looks no diffrent. Last year the car lost a good 120lbs or more and still keep full interior. I guess I missed this other stuff.

TAB Fab is making me something cool as well..... Ill keep you updated on that

The evo's ABS is actually pretty good. It's not like your normal GM retardedness where it would actually CAUSE an accident. He's mainly taking it out for weight reduction and space. Lookin good Jesse, i'll be over there soon here to help you finish it up!

Thats the truth, the ABS in my beater Grand Am swings the back end around every time it comes on, ugh.

Cool toys. Forgive me for knowing jack about Evos but do you really need a new master? The lines alone will not work? Why not bend the lines yourself considering they are half impossible to install prebent without removing everything.

Jappbox
02-10-2009, 08:42 PM
The stock ABS master Cyl. only has to outs, that go to the ABS controller, then to the 4 brakes. The EVO RS non-ABS Master Has valves on the bottom for the 2 back brakes. the lines will be easy to install since I have the intake off the car, very very easy install.

Sorry for the question I'm used to Toyo's where the master hes 2 out and a valve to distribute to the right front/left rear and left front/right rear, I hate installing prebent lines due to everything in the way...... keep up the good work.

Thanks for the nice comments. The RS master also has porchant valves for the rear brakes, my stuff shipped out today, ill post pics once installed!

MUCH MUCH better, so clean over there. How much weight was the ABS stuff?

Jappbox
02-16-2009, 06:42 PM
ABS was 7.2lbs

So far im down 59.6lbs this winter. goal is 100lbs dont think im going to get there..... might.

Car still has:

Full interior
stock seats
some Fire wall sound deading
Air bags
All Door Beams
heater core/fan

I am running out of things to remove that will take away from it being a street car.

TbTalon94

I'd say do seats, then CF hood/trunk/roof and you'd be pretty good. Still have the factory "safety equipment" and maybe add a 5-point harness with the seats and you'd be good.

you have a sunroof?

Xboosted23X
02-17-2009, 12:28 PM
i think he is talking about the whole roof not just a sun roof plug.
i know ams offers it.

Drifte
02-17-2009, 12:37 PM
If it doesnt have a sunroof theirs no point in putting another roof on top if it.

Xboosted23X
02-17-2009, 12:44 PM
you take off the existing roof and replace it it with the cf one

02-17-2009, 07:18 PM
i believe i read that Jesse's is an rs model i may be wrong, if it is that is only a 7 lbs weight saving for the roof... would it be worth all the time and money for 7lbs?

Jappbox
02-17-2009, 09:01 PM
mine is not a RS, if it was, i would not have to to any of this, as RS comes with nothing, Pure race car, manual windows, no radio, no ABS, no AC, no wing, no sound deading, even less paint!! lol

Jappbox
02-17-2009, 09:11 PM
I want to do, CF trunk, roof, and hood, but the hood is expensive, about $1500 for a good one that actully takes wegight off the stock hood, the trunk is about $600 and saves 10lbs, the roof is about 2K installed. So not cheap for Carbon Fiber

Yea then you gotta keep that bitch waxed constantly or the clear yellows/peels.

holly crap you sure buy a lot of parts

tractioncontrol
02-18-2009, 07:00 PM
That's a nice piece. I'm sure your not using the evap system with SEM have you removed it? I would imagine the charcoal canister weighs 5 pounds plus the hoses and (possibly if it has it) the leak detection pump should net maybe 10 pounds total.

Jappbox
02-18-2009, 07:56 PM
I got rid of the charcoal canister and lines last year, its in the back behind the fuel tank, it did weigh a good 10lbs though LOL

TbTalon94
02-19-2009, 07:47 AM
That's too bad that there is no word on the F1. I guess you'll have to just get the VSR large plenum and call it a day. Good thing you got rid of the ABS! SO what's your spool going to be like now, 6,300rpms lol.

Jappbox
02-19-2009, 04:21 PM
I dunno if it will hurt or help spool now, but its aready worse then 6,300 well at least in 3rd it is. hits full boost in 4th at around 6k, first gear is pointless inless from a stop, and second need to brake boost a bit to get it going, or else shit like hell when it hits full boost at 8k

Jappbox
02-19-2009, 04:21 PM
Im going to try a few tricks to see if I cant get it to spool a little faster than last year. We will see what I can do.

TbTalon94
